The Eastron SDM230-Modbus is a single-phase multi-function energy meter designed to measure active energy (kWh) in AC circuits. It features an anti-reverse flow function, making it suitable for applications with on-grid inverters, such as Growatt systems. The meter communicates via Modbus, allowing for remote monitoring and integration into energy management systems. This model is supplied without an external Current Transformer (CT).

2. Informació de seguretat

3. Configuració i instal·lació

3.1 Desembalatge

Carefully remove the energy meter from its packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage during transit. Retain the packaging for future transport or storage.

3.2 Muntatge

The SDM230-Modbus is designed for DIN rail mounting. Securely attach the meter to a standard 35mm DIN rail within an appropriate enclosure, ensuring adequate ventilation.

3.3 Connexions de cablejat

Important: This meter is designed for direct connection up to 100A and does not require an external Current Transformer (CT). Ensure all connections are tight and secure to prevent loose contacts and overheating.

Refer to the terminal diagram on the meter's casing for precise wiring. A typical single-phase connection involves:

  • L (Live) Input: Connect the incoming live wire to the designated 'L in' terminal.
  • N (Neutral) Input: Connect the incoming neutral wire to the designated 'N in' terminal.
  • L (Live) Output: Connect the outgoing live wire to the designated 'L out' terminal.
  • N (Neutral) Output: Connect the outgoing neutral wire to the designated 'N out' terminal.
  • Modbus (RS485) Connections: Connect the A and B terminals of the meter to your Modbus network or Growatt inverter's communication port. Ensure correct polarity (A to A, B to B).

For specific integration with Growatt single-phase on-grid inverters, consult the Growatt inverter's installation manual for detailed wiring and communication setup instructions.

4. Instruccions de funcionament

4.1 Encès

Once wired correctly, apply power to the circuit. The meter's LCD display should illuminate and show readings.

The meter features an LCD display and typically two buttons below it for navigation. These buttons allow you to cycle through various measured parameters such as:

  • Total Active Energy (kWh)
  • Voltage (V)
  • Corrent (A)

Press the left button to scroll forward through parameters. The right button may be used for backward scrolling or entering settings menus, depending on the specific firmware version. Refer to the detailed product datasheet for a complete list of parameters and navigation specifics.

4.3 Anti-Reverse Flow Function

The meter is equipped with an anti-reverse flow function, which accurately measures energy consumption while preventing the registration of reverse energy flow (e.g., excess solar generation being fed back to the grid) as consumption. This ensures accurate billing and compliance with grid regulations for on-grid solar systems.

4.4 Comunicació Modbus

The SDM230-Modbus uses the Modbus RTU protocol over RS485 for communication. This allows external devices, such as a Growatt inverter or a data logger, to read real-time energy data and other parameters from the meter. Ensure the Modbus address, baud rate, and parity settings are correctly configured on both the meter and the connected device. These settings can typically be adjusted via the meter's display menu or dedicated software.

5. Manteniment
