3. Configuració

  1. Desempaquetar components: Carefully remove the sphygmomanometer, cuff, and inflation bulb from the carrying case.
  2. Connexió de tubs: Ensure all tubing connections between the cuff, manometer, and inflation bulb are secure. The manometer typically connects to one tube from the cuff, and the inflation bulb connects to the other.
  3. Preparació per a la mesura:
    • Seieu en una posició còmoda amb l'esquena recolzada i els peus a terra.
    • Recolza el braç sobre una superfície plana a l'alçada del cor.
    • Ensure you have not exercised, consumed caffeine, or smoked for at least 30 minutes prior to measurement.

4. Instruccions de funcionament

Follow these steps to accurately measure blood pressure using your Santamedical Aneroid Sphygmomanometer. A stethoscope (not included) is required to listen for Korotkoff sounds.

  1. Aplicar el maneguet:
    • Wrap the cuff firmly around your bare upper arm, approximately 1 inch (2-3 cm) above the elbow crease.
    • Ensure the artery marker on the cuff (often indicated by an arrow) is aligned with your brachial artery, which is typically on the inside of your arm.
    • The cuff should be snug but not uncomfortably tight. You should be able to slide two fingers under the cuff.

  2. Position the Manometer: Clip the manometer to the cuff or place it on a flat surface where it is easily visible.
  3. Inflar el maneguet:
    • Tanqueu la vàlvula d'alliberament d'aire de la bombeta d'inflat girant-la en sentit horari.
    • Rapidly pump the inflation bulb until the manometer reads approximately 20-30 mmHg above your usual systolic pressure, or until the pulse sound disappears through the stethoscope. Do not over-inflate.
Hand inflating the blood pressure cuff bulb

  4. Deflate and Read:
    • Obriu lentament la vàlvula d'alliberament d'aire girant-la en sentit antihorari, permetent que la pressió baixi a una velocitat de 2-3 mmHg per segon.
    • Listen carefully with a stethoscope placed over the brachial artery.
    • Note the reading on the manometer when you hear the first clear, tapping sound (Systolic Pressure).
    • Continue to deflate the cuff. Note the reading when the sounds disappear completely (Diastolic Pressure).

  5. Lectures de registre: Document your systolic and diastolic pressures immediately.
  6. Repeat Measurement: Wait 1-2 minutes before taking another measurement on the same arm. For best results, take two or three readings and average them.

5. Manteniment i cura

  • Neteja: Wipe the cuff with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not immerse the cuff or manometer in water. The manometer can be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Emmagatzematge: Store the sphygmomanometer in its carrying case in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Calibració: Aneroid sphygmomanometers should be checked for calibration accuracy periodically, typically every 1-2 years, or if dropped. Consult a qualified technician for calibration services.
  • Inspecció: Regularly inspect the cuff, tubing, and inflation bulb for any signs of wear, cracks, or leaks. Replace components as needed.
