Configuració

The Tone Generator and Probe require a 9-volt battery each (not included). To install:

2. Connecting the Tone Generator

The tone generator can be connected to the cable or wire pair using the integrated RJ-11 plug or the alligator clips.

• For RJ-11 Jacks: Plug the RJ-11 connector directly into the telephone or data jack.
• For Individual Wires/Wire Pairs: Use the red and black alligator clips to connect to the desired wires. Ensure a secure connection.

Instruccions de funcionament

1. Using the Tone Generator

1. Connect the tone generator to the cable or wire pair you wish to trace. Use the integrated RJ-11 plug for telephone/data jacks or the alligator clips for individual wires.
2. Set the slide switch on the tone generator to the "TONE" position to emit a tracing tone.
3. For continuity testing, set the switch to "CONT".

2. Using the Probe

1. Turn on the probe using the side thumb wheel, adjusting the volume to a comfortable level.
2. Press the recessed push-button on the probe to activate the scanning tone.
3. Move the tapered tip of the probe along the suspected cable path. The probe will emit an audible tone when it detects the signal from the tone generator. The tone will be loudest when the probe is directly over the target cable.
4. Use the volume thumb wheel to fine-tune sensitivity and pinpoint the exact location.

3. Cable Tracing Example

To trace a specific cable or wire pair:

1. Connect the tone generator to one end of the cable or wire pair.
2. Activate the tone generator by setting its switch to "TONE".
3. At the other end of the cable run, or along its path, use the probe to scan for the tone. The probe's audio output will increase in volume as you get closer to the energized cable, guiding you to the correct one.

To check for breaks or open circuits in a wire:

1. Connect the tone generator to the wire using the alligator clips.
2. Set the slide switch on the tone generator to the "CONT" position.
3. The tone generator will provide an indication (e.g., an LED light) if there is continuity. If the circuit is open or the wire is broken, there will be no indication.
