3.2. Zamel P-257/2 2-Channel Remote Control
The P-257/2 is a compact, battery-operated 2-button radio transmitter. It is used to control receivers within the EXTA FREE system, including the RWS-211 J/N. Each button can control a separate channel or function.

This image displays the P-257/2 remote control, highlighting its two distinct buttons for controlling different functions or devices. It is a key component for wirelessly interacting with the RWS-211 J/N switch.
4. Configuració
4.1. Mounting the RWS-211 J/N Switch
The RWS-211 J/N is designed for surface mounting. Choose a suitable location, considering the desired range and environmental conditions. Ensure the antenna is positioned for optimal signal reception.
4.2. Wiring the RWS-211 J/N Switch
Before wiring, ensure the main power supply is OFF.
- Open the RWS-211 J/N enclosure.
- Connect the 230V AC power supply to the terminals marked 'L' (Live) and 'N' (Neutral).
- Connect the device to be controlled (e.g., lamp, motor) to the output terminals. The RWS-211 J/N provides a potential-free NO (Normally Open) contact.
- Assegureu-vos que totes les connexions estiguin segures i aïllades correctament.
- Close the enclosure, ensuring the IP56 rating is maintained.

This diagram illustrates the electrical connections for the RWS-211 J/N switch. It shows how to connect the 230V AC power supply (L and N) and the controlled load (represented by a lamp) to the switch's output terminals. The remote control is also depicted, indicating its role in wirelessly activating the switch.
4.3. Pairing the Remote Control (Learning Mode)
To enable the RWS-211 J/N to respond to the P-257/2 remote control, they must be paired:
- Apply power to the RWS-211 J/N switch.
- Locate the 'PROGRAMMING' button or jumper inside the RWS-211 J/N enclosure.
- Press and hold the 'PROGRAMMING' button for approximately 2 seconds until the LED indicator on the switch starts flashing. This indicates the switch is in learning mode.
- Within 10 seconds, press any button on the P-257/2 remote control that you wish to pair. The LED on the RWS-211 J/N will flash rapidly and then turn off, confirming successful pairing.
- Repeat for any other remote controls you wish to pair (up to 32 transmitters).
5. Instruccions de funcionament
5.1. Using the P-257/2 Remote Control
Once paired, simply press the assigned button on the P-257/2 remote control to activate or deactivate the connected device via the RWS-211 J/N switch. The remote's red LED indicates transmission and battery status.
5.2. Operating Modes of RWS-211 J/N
The RWS-211 J/N supports two operating modes: bistable and timed. These modes can typically be selected via a switch or jumper inside the enclosure (refer to internal diagram if available).
- Bistable Mode: Each press of the remote button toggles the output state (ON/OFF).
- Mode cronometrat: The output remains ON for a set duration (1 to 120 seconds) after a remote button press, then automatically turns OFF. The time setting is independent for each channel.
6. Manteniment
6.1. P-257/2 Remote Control Battery Replacement
The P-257/2 remote control is powered by a CR2032 battery, with an estimated life of 3 years depending on usage. When the red LED on the remote appears dim or fails to light during transmission, replace the battery:
- Obriu amb cura el comandament a distància casing.
- Traieu la bateria CR2032 antiga.
- Inseriu una nova bateria CR2032, assegurant la polaritat correcta.
- Tanqueu el comandament a distància casing de manera segura.
6.2. Neteja
The RWS-211 J/N switch has an IP56 rating, meaning it is protected against dust ingress and powerful water jets. Clean the exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the enclosure remains sealed after cleaning.
7. Solució De Problemes
7.1. Device Not Responding to Remote
- Check if the RWS-211 J/N switch has power.
- Verify that the P-257/2 remote control battery is not depleted (check the red LED indicator).
- Ensure the remote control is paired with the switch. If unsure, repeat the pairing process (Section 4.3).
- Check for obstructions between the remote and the switch.
7.2. Short Operating Range
The specified range of up to 350m (RWS-211 J/N) and 300m (P-257/2) is for open air. Obstacles can significantly reduce the effective range. Consider the following material impacts:

This image illustrates how different building materials can affect the wireless signal range. For example, wood/gypsum causes 5-20% loss, glass 10-20%, brick 10-40%, concrete 40-80%, and metal 50-100%. If experiencing short range, consider the materials between the remote and the switch. The range can be extended using an intermediate transmitter (RTN-01).
