5. Instal·lació i configuració
5.1 Selecció d'una ubicació
Install smoke detectors in all sleeping areas and on every level of your home, including the basement. For optimal protection, place a detector in each bedroom. Avoid installing near windows, doors, or air vents where drafts might interfere with smoke detection. Keep at least 10 cm distance from walls and corners if mounting on the ceiling.
5.2 Muntatge del detector

- Use the mounting plate as a template to mark the drill holes.
- Drill two holes and insert the wall plugs.
- Attach the mounting plate to the ceiling using the provided screws.
- Align the smoke detector with the mounting plate and twist clockwise until it clicks into place. This action will activate the sealed battery.
- Perform an initial test as described in Section 6.1.

6. Instruccions de funcionament
6.1 Testing the Smoke Detector
Test the smoke detector weekly to ensure it is functioning correctly. Press and hold the test button (usually located on the front or side of the unit) for a few seconds. The alarm should sound loudly. If the alarm does not sound, refer to the Troubleshooting section.
6.2 Indicació d'alarma
When smoke is detected, the alarm will emit a loud, pulsating sound. A red LED indicator may also flash. In case of an alarm, follow your family's emergency escape plan and evacuate the building immediately.
6.3 Funció de silenci (mode silenci)
If the alarm sounds due to non-emergency conditions (e.g., cooking fumes), you can temporarily silence it by pressing the test/hush button. The alarm will silence for approximately 10 minutes before resetting. If smoke is still present after the silence period, the alarm will sound again.
7. Manteniment
7.1 Neteja
Dust and debris can accumulate on the smoke detector and affect its performance. Clean the detector at least once a month by gently vacuuming the exterior with a soft brush attachment or wiping it with a damp cloth. Do not use cleaning sprays or solvents.
7.2 Bateria
The Smartwares FSM-16404 features a sealed 10-year battery. This battery is not replaceable. When the battery is low, the detector will emit a short "chirp" sound approximately once every 30-60 seconds for at least 7 days. This indicates that the unit needs to be replaced. Do not attempt to replace the battery yourself.
