5.2. One-to-Many Receiver Connection (via Ethernet Switch)

For connecting one source to multiple displays and KVM workstations, an Ethernet switch is required.

  1. Connect Source to Sender (TX): Follow steps 5.1.1 for connecting your source device to the Sender (TX) unit.
  2. Connect Sender (TX) to Ethernet Switch: Connecteu el LAN TX port of the Sender (TX) unit to an available port on your Ethernet router or switch using an Ethernet cable.
  3. Connect Receiver(s) (RX) to Ethernet Switch: For each display and KVM workstation, connect the LAN RX port of a Receiver (RX) unit to an available port on the same Ethernet router or switch using an Ethernet cable.
  4. Connect Display and Peripherals to each Receiver (RX): For each Receiver (RX) unit, follow steps 5.1.2 to connect your display device, USB keyboard, and mouse.
  5. Encès: Connect the DC 5V power adapters to all Sender (TX) and Receiver (RX) units, then plug them into power outlets.

The system operates transparently, meaning your remote keyboard and mouse function as if they were directly connected to the source computer. No additional software or drivers are typically required for basic KVM functionality.

7. Manteniment

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your AGPTEK KVM Extender, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Neteja: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the units. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays.
  • Ventilació: Ensure the units are placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Do not block any ventilation openings.
  • Gestió de cables: Keep cables neatly organized and avoid sharp bends or excessive tension, which can damage the cables or ports.
  • Font d'alimentació: Use only the provided DC 5V power adapters. Using unauthorized power adapters may damage the device and void the warranty.
  • Medi ambient: Eviteu exposar les unitats a temperatures extremes, humitat o llum solar directa.

8. Solució De Problemes

If you encounter issues with your KVM Extender, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemaCausa possibleSolució
No video on the remote display.
  • Loose HDMI or Ethernet cable connections.
  • Font d'alimentació incorrecta.
  • Incompatible resolution or refresh rate.
  • Cables danyats.
  • Check and re-secure all HDMI and Ethernet cables.
  • Ensure both TX and RX units are powered on with the correct 5V adapters.
  • Prova un altre cable HDMI.
  • Ensure your source device's resolution is set to 1080p@60Hz or lower.
Keyboard/mouse not responding.
  • Connexió del cable USB fluixa.
  • Incompatible USB device (e.g., 2.4G wireless kit).
  • USB 1.1 compatibility issue.
  • Check and re-secure the USB-A to USB-A cable between the source and TX unit, and the keyboard/mouse to the RX unit.
  • Ensure your keyboard/mouse is a wired USB 1.1 device or a Bluetooth device with a USB dongle. 2.4G wireless kits are not supported.
  • Try a different keyboard/mouse.
Mala qualitat de vídeo o parpelleig.
  • Low-quality or damaged Ethernet cable.
  • Excessive cable length.
  • Network congestion (in one-to-many setup).
  • Ethernet switch speed limitation.
  • Use high-quality CAT6 or CAT7 Ethernet cables.
  • Ensure cable length is within the 120-meter limit.
  • If using an Ethernet switch, ensure it is a Gigabit (1000 Mbps) switch. Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps) switches may cause performance issues, especially with video.
  • Consider creating a VLAN for the KVM traffic if network collapse occurs in complex network environments.
Network instability or collapse (in one-to-many setup).
  • High network traffic from KVM extenders without proper isolation.
  • If possible, configure a Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) specifically for the KVM extender traffic to isolate it from other network activities.
