This manual provides essential instructions for the safe operation, setup, and maintenance of your E-flite UMX Pitts S-1S RC airplane. The UMX Pitts S-1S is an officially licensed, ultra-micro scale replica of the iconic aerobatic biplane, designed for intermediate pilots. It features AS3X and optional-use SAFE Select technologies for enhanced stability and ease of flight. This Bind-N-Fly (BNF) Basic model comes factory-assembled with a powerful 2S- and 3S-compatible brushless outrunner motor, ESC, Spektrum receiver, and linear servos installed.

The E-flite UMX Pitts S-1S BNF Basic model requires the following items, which are not included in the box, for operation:
- Full-range 6+ channel Spektrum DSMX/DSM2 compatible aircraft transmitter
- 2S or 3S 280–300mAh LiPo flight battery
- Compatible LiPo charger

Configuració
Assemblea
The E-flite UMX Pitts S-1S comes completely factory-assembled. No assembly is required before your first flight. Ensure all control surfaces (ailerons, elevator, rudder) move freely and are properly centered.
Lligament del receptor
This model is equipped with a Spektrum receiver. To bind the aircraft to your Spektrum DSMX/DSM2 compatible transmitter:
- Ensure your transmitter is powered off and the throttle stick is at its lowest position.
- Connect a fully charged 2S or 3S LiPo battery to the aircraft's ESC. The receiver's LED will begin to flash rapidly.
- Put your transmitter into bind mode (refer to your transmitter's manual for specific instructions).
- Power on your transmitter while holding the bind button/switch.
- The receiver's LED will turn solid when binding is complete. Release the bind button/switch on your transmitter.
- Disconnect and reconnect the flight battery to initialize the system.
Control Surface Check
After binding, perform a control direction test. With the transmitter and aircraft powered on:
- Move the aileron stick left: Left aileron should move up, right aileron down.
- Move the elevator stick back (pull): Elevator should move up.
- Move the rudder stick left: Rudder should move left.
Correct any reversed controls using your transmitter's servo reverse function.

AS3X and SAFE Select Technologies
Your UMX Pitts S-1S is equipped with AS3X (Artificial Stabilization – 3-aXis) technology, which works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence, providing a locked-in feel. It also includes optional-use SAFE Select technology, offering flight envelope protection for easier flying.
- SAFE Select On: Provides bank angle limits and automatic self-leveling, making it easier for less experienced pilots to maintain control.
- SAFE Select Off: Allows for full aerobatic capabilities without bank angle limits or self-leveling, suitable for experienced pilots.

Entorn de vol
The ultra-micro size of the UMX Pitts S-1S allows it to be flown in larger indoor spaces, such as gymnasiums, or outdoors in calm conditions. Always choose an area free from obstacles and people. Avoid flying in windy conditions, especially when first learning, as this can make control difficult.

Consells de vol
- Enlairament: For ground takeoffs, align the aircraft into the wind. Gradually increase throttle and apply slight up elevator as needed to lift off. For hand launches, hold the aircraft firmly, apply full throttle, and gently push it forward into the wind.
- Vol bàsic: Start with gentle maneuvers to get a feel for the aircraft's response. Maintain a safe altitude.
- Acrobacia aeriana: With SAFE Select off, the Pitts S-1S is capable of a wide range of aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls, and inverted flight. Practice at a safe altitude before attempting low-level aerobatics.
- Aterratge: Approach into the wind. Reduce throttle and gradually decrease altitude. Maintain control with small elevator and aileron inputs. Flare gently just above the ground to touch down smoothly.

Manteniment
- Neteja: Gently wipe the airframe with a soft, dry cloth after each flight to remove dirt or debris. Avoid using harsh chemicals.

- Control Linkages: Ensure all control linkages are secure and free from binding. Check servo arms for tightness.
