The XtremepowerUS DE (Diatomaceous Earth) Pool Filter is designed to provide superior water clarity for in-ground pools and spas. It utilizes diatomaceous earth as a filter medium to remove microscopic particles from your pool water, ensuring efficient filtration and a clean swimming environment.

4. Configuració i instal·lació
Proper installation is crucial for the filter's performance and longevity. Consult a qualified pool professional if you are unsure about any step.
4.1 Selecció del lloc
- Install the filter on a firm, level surface, preferably concrete, to prevent settling.
- Ensure adequate clearance around the filter for maintenance and servicing.
- Locate the filter as close to the pool as possible to minimize pipe friction loss.
- Protect the filter from direct sunlight and harsh weather conditions.

4.2 Muntatge
- Carefully place the DE filter grid assembly into the lower half of the filter tank. Ensure it is seated correctly.
- Place the upper half of the filter tank onto the lower half, aligning the two halves.
- Install the flange clamp assembly around the two tank halves. Tighten the clamp bolt securely, ensuring the O-ring between the tank halves is properly seated and lubricated with silicone grease. Refer to the manufacturer's torque specifications for the clamp bolt (typically 150 inch-lbs or 12.5 foot-lbs).
- Thread the pressure gauge into the designated port on the top of the filter tank.
- Install the air relief valve into its port on the top of the filter.
4.3 Connexions de fontaneria
Connect the filter to your pool's plumbing system. The filter features clearly marked INLET and OUTLET ports.
- Connect the pipe from the pool pump's discharge to the filter's INLET port.
- Connect the pipe leading back to the pool returns to the filter's OUTLET port.
- Ensure all connections are watertight using appropriate sealants and pipe dope for PVC fittings.
- A multi-port valve (sold separately, ASIN / SKU: B0DBK25ZVR / 75230) is typically installed between the pump and the filter for various operational modes (filter, backwash, rinse, waste, recirculate, closed).

5. Instruccions de funcionament
5.1 Initial Startup and Adding DE
- Ensure all plumbing connections are secure and the drain plug is closed.

- Set the multi-port valve (if installed) to the 'FILTER' position.
- Start the pool pump. Allow the filter tank to fill with water. Water will begin to flow out of the air relief valve.
- Once a steady stream of water (not air) comes from the air relief valve, close the valve.
- Note the initial pressure reading on the pressure gauge. This is your 'clean filter' pressure.
- With the pump running, slowly add the recommended amount of DE powder (typically 60 sq/ft filter requires 6 lbs of DE) into the pool skimmer. The DE will be drawn into the filter and coat the grids.
- Allow the filter to operate for several hours to distribute the DE evenly and begin filtration.

5.2 Funcionament normal
Operate your pool pump and filter for at least 8-12 hours daily for optimal water circulation and filtration. Monitor the pressure gauge regularly.
5.3 Rentat a contracors
Backwash the filter when the pressure gauge reads 8-10 PSI above the initial 'clean filter' pressure, or when pool water clarity diminishes. This indicates the DE grids are loaded with debris.

- Turn on the pool pump. Backwash for 2-3 minutes or until the discharge water runs clear.

- Restart the pump and resume normal filtration.
6. Manteniment
6.1 Neteja regular
Periodically (e.g., once per season or as needed), the DE filter grids should be removed and thoroughly cleaned. This involves disassembling the filter tank.
- Turn off the pool pump and close any necessary valves to isolate the filter.
- Open the air relief valve to release pressure.
- Open the drain plug at the bottom of the filter to drain all water.
- Loosen and remove the flange clamp muntatge.
- Carefully lift the upper tank half and the DE grid assembly out of the lower tank.
- Thoroughly rinse the DE grids with a garden hose to remove all DE powder and debris. For stubborn deposits, a specialized filter cleaner may be used according to its instructions.
- Inspect the grids for any tears or damage. Replace damaged grids immediately.
- Inspect the tank O-ring for cracks or wear. Lubricate with silicone grease or replace if necessary.
- Reassemble the filter by reversing these steps, ensuring the flange clamp està ben ajustat.
- Follow the 'Initial Startup and Adding DE' procedure (Section 5.1) to restart the filter.
6.2 Hivernització
In areas subject to freezing temperatures, the filter must be properly winterized to prevent damage.
- Perform a thorough backwash and grid cleaning as described above.
- Drain all water from the filter tank by opening the drain plug and air relief valve.
- Disconnect plumbing lines and store them in a non-freezing environment if possible.
- Store the pressure gauge in a dry, non-freezing location.
- Cover the filter with a protective tarp or cover to shield it from elements.
