The lateral assembly is designed for easy installation. Follow these steps to replace your old or broken center pipe:

1. Preparació: Before beginning, ensure your pool pump is turned off and the filter system is depressurized. Refer to your sand filter's specific manual for depressurization procedures.
2. Access the Filter Tank: Carefully open your sand filter tank according to the manufacturer's instructions. This usually involves removing the multi-port valve or top lid.
3. Eliminar components antics: Locate the existing central pipe and lateral assembly. Carefully remove the broken or old center pipe and its attached laterals from the filter tank. Be mindful of any remaining sand or debris.
4. Instal·leu el nou muntatge: Insert the new central pipe and lateral assembly into its position within the filter tank. Ensure the laterals are properly spread out at the bottom of the tank to cover the filter media area effectively. The laterals are tubes arranged in a wheel-spoke pattern at the bottom of the central pipe, each with small holes to allow water to pass while retaining sand particles.
5. Assegurar i tornar a muntar: Once the new assembly is in place, reassemble the filter tank, ensuring all connections are secure and watertight.
6. Inici del sistema: Follow your sand filter's manufacturer guidelines for repressurizing and starting up the system after maintenance.

Principis de funcionament

The lateral assembly is a critical component in a sand filter system, responsible for efficient water filtration. Here's how it functions:

• Flux d'aigua: Dirty pool water enters the sand filter through the multi-port valve and is directed downwards through the sand filter media.
• Filtració: As water passes through the sand, impurities and debris are trapped by the sand particles.
• Col·lecció: The clean water then reaches the bottom of the filter tank and is collected by the lateral arms of the assembly. These laterals have small openings that allow filtered water to enter while preventing sand from escaping into the pool.
• Return to Pool: The collected clean water flows up through the central pipe of the lateral assembly and is returned to the pool.

Manteniment

The lateral assembly requires minimal maintenance. Regular backwashing of your sand filter, as recommended by your filter manufacturer, will help keep the laterals clear of debris and ensure optimal filtration performance. If you notice a decrease in filtration efficiency or sand returning to the pool, inspect the lateral assembly for damage or blockages during your next filter service.

• Mala filtració: Reduced water clarity despite proper backwashing might suggest a clogged or damaged lateral assembly. Consider inspecting the laterals for blockages or damage.
