Introducció

The NEJE E40 is a professional fixed-focus laser module designed for cutting and engraving. It features 11W+ optical output power from two beams and includes a built-in high-pressure air assist system. Optimized for cutting stability and efficiency, it can also be used for engraving. The E40 is more focused on cutting stability, heavy-duty design, and easier to use air assist, with more stable output power for cutting. It offers good cutting efficiency, capable of cleanly cutting 4mm plywood at 300mm/min. NEJE has optimized the optical characteristics in the XY axis direction, ensuring balanced XY axis cutting, making it more suitable for cutting. When the air nozzle is removed, the E40 can also be directly used for engraving without air assistance, and its engraving ability is very close to the A40640 module.

Configuració

Instal·lació del mòdul

The NEJE E40 laser module is designed for compatibility with various laser engravers, 3D printers, and CNC machines. Securely mount the module onto your machine's carriage using appropriate brackets and fasteners. Ensure the module is stable and aligned correctly with the working surface.

Connexions elèctriques

Connect the NEJE E40 laser module to your control board using the provided 4-pin PH2.0 cable. If your setup requires additional power, use the 2-pin DC12V extra power input. The module kit includes a NEJE digital PWM temperature test/switch/interface adapter board and a NEJE test/switch/interface adapter board to facilitate connections and testing.

The adapter board is used to work with the laser module. The green box is the output connect to NEJE laser module. The red box is the power and signal input (3 way, you only need to select one input). The yellow box is the test button. Press the button, the laser will be on at full power.

Air Assist Connection

Connect the provided 4mm PVC trachea to the air interface on the top of the laser module. This tube should then be connected to an external air pump capable of supplying 0.5-1.5mpa of clean air. Air assist is crucial for achieving clean cuts and reducing charring, especially when working with wood and other combustible materials.

Ajust del focus

The NEJE E40 module features a fixed focus. The optimal focal distance is 3mm from the radiator. Use the included laser module height adjuster to set the correct distance between the module and your material. For carving, the focus is typically set at the material surface. For cutting, the focus might be slightly below the surface to maximize penetration.

Funcionament general

Once the module is installed and connected, you can begin your cutting or engraving projects. Use your machine's control software to load designs, set parameters (power, speed, passes), and initiate the laser process. Always perform small test cuts or engravings on scrap material to fine-tune settings before starting your main project.

For cutting, the E40 is optimized for stability and efficiency, capable of cutting 4mm plywood cleanly at 300mm/min. Ensure air assist is active for optimal results. For engraving, you may remove the air nozzle for direct engraving without air assistance, which can be beneficial for finer details. The engraving ability of the E40 is very close to the A40640 module.

Precaucions de seguretat

• Always wear appropriate laser safety glasses (included or equivalent) to protect your eyes from laser radiation.
• Ensure proper ventilation in your workspace to remove fumes and smoke generated during cutting and engraving.
• Never leave the laser module unattended during operation.
• Keep flammable materials away from the laser's working area.
• The protective window lens can withstand temperatures up to 1000℃, but regular inspection for damage or debris is recommended.

Manteniment

The laser module's lens is critical for performance. In high dust environments, or if there is improper air assist, the lens and internal structure can be damaged. Regularly inspect and clean the protective lens to maintain optimal performance and prevent damage. Damage caused by improper maintenance may require replacement at the user's expense.

The module is equipped with a Double Ball High Life Fan for cooling. Ensure the fan is kept clean and free from dust and debris to maintain effective cooling and prevent overheating. Blocked fans can lead to reduced performance and potential damage to the module.

Problemes comuns

• El làser no dispara: Verify all electrical connections, including the 4-pin PH2.0 cable and any additional 12V power. Check the adapter board settings and ensure the test button is not inadvertently activated or stuck.
• Weak laser output: Confirm that the focus is correctly set at 3mm from the radiator. Inspect the lens for any dirt, dust, or damage. Ensure your power supply meets the DC 12V 4A requirement.
• Poor cutting/engraving quality: Re-check focus settings. Adjust laser power and speed parameters in your control software. For cutting, ensure the air assist is properly connected and providing the recommended pressure (0.5-1.5mpa clean air) to prevent charring and improve cut quality.
• Module overheating: Ensure the cooling fan is clean and operating without obstruction. Check the ambient temperature of your workspace. The module has an internal temperature control set at 45℃.

• For optimal cutting results, especially with thicker materials like plywood, always ensure the air assist is active. This helps to achieve clean edges, reduce charring, and improve overall cut quality.
• When engraving, if fine details are paramount and smoke/debris is minimal, consider temporarily removing the air nozzle. This can sometimes lead to sharper engraved lines.
• Many users have successfully integrated this module with various control boards, including those running GRBL. Refer to the adapter board instructions and wiring diagrams for proper setup.
