3.5 Connecting the VCI to the Vehicle

The VCI (Vehicle Communication Interface) must be connected to the vehicle's Data Link Connector (DLC) to establish communication. The connection method varies based on the vehicle type.

OBDII Vehicle Connection:

For OBDII/EOBD compliant vehicles, only the main cable is required.

1. Connect the main cable's female adapter to the Vehicle Data Connector on the VCI, and tighten the captive screws.
2. Connect the cable's 16-pin male adapter to the vehicle's DLC (generally located under the vehicle dashboard).

Non-OBDII Vehicle Connection:

For non-OBDII vehicles, both the main cable and a specific OBDI adapter are required. Power can be supplied via the vehicle's auxiliary power outlet or directly from the vehicle battery using the clamp cable.

1. Connect the main cable's female adapter to the VCI.
2. Locate the required OBDI adapter and connect its 16-pin jack to the main cable's male adapter.
3. Connect the attached OBDI adapter to the vehicle's DLC.
4. If power is needed from the auxiliary power outlet, plug the DC power connector of the auxiliary power outlet adapter into the DC power supply input port on the device, then connect the male connector to the vehicle's auxiliary power outlet.
5. If power is needed from the vehicle battery, connect the tubular plug of the clamp cable to the male connector of the auxiliary power outlet adapter, then connect the red clamp al terminal positiu (+) i al cl negreamp al terminal negatiu (-) de la bateria.

NOTA:

The vehicle's DLC is not always located under the dashboard. Refer to the user manual of the test vehicle for additional connection information. Some vehicles may have more than one adapter or may have test leads instead of an adapter. Make the proper connection to the vehicle DLC as required.

3.6 Connecting the VCI to the Tablet

The MaxiFlash VCI supports three communication methods with the tablet: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and USB.

Connexió Bluetooth:

In open areas, the working range for Bluetooth communication is up to 328 feet (100 m).

The USB cable connection provides the most stable communication and is recommended for ECU programming or coding.

1. Connect the USB cable from the tablet to the VCI.
2. The VCI navigation button at the bottom bar of the screen will show a green circle USB icon, and the connection LED on the VCI will light solid green.

NOTA:

If no VCI is found, reposition the VCI and remove any objects causing signal interference. Tap the Refresh button to rescan. The USB connection method will take priority over other communication methods.

4. Instruccions de funcionament

4.1 Power Up and Power Down

Encès:

Diagnostics Screen Layout:

The screen includes a Diagnostics Toolbar, Current Directory Path, Status Information Bar, Navigation Bar, Main Section, and Function Buttons.

Performs a comprehensive scan of all vehicle ECU systems to locate faults and retrieve DTCs. Systems with no faults appear in green; those with faults appear in orange.

Unitat de control:

Allows manual selection of control systems for testing. Functions include:

ECU Programming & Coding:

The MaxiCOM Ultra Lite S supports J2534 ECU programming for Benz/BMW and ECU coding for various brands. This function allows reprogramming adaptive data, replacing existing software/firmware, and customizing car parameters.

NOTA:

ECU Programming is primarily for BMW/Mercedes Benz vehicles. Ensure a stable internet connection and fully charged battery when performing programming.

Generic OBDII Operations:

Offers quick access to check DTCs, monitor status, and perform emissions-related services for OBDII/EOBD compliant vehicles.

4.5 Battery Test (MaxiBAS BT506)

The MaxiBAS BT506 is a battery and electrical system analysis tool that uses Adaptive Conductance for accurate battery health assessment. It can perform in-vehicle and out-vehicle tests.

Connecting the Battery Tester:

1. Power on both the MaxiCOM tablet and BT506.
2. Enable Bluetooth on the tablet via VCI Manager > BAS BT. The tablet will scan for the BT506.
3. Select the desired BT506 device (suffixed with "Maxi" and its serial number) for pairing.

6.2 Tablet Not Working Properly

• Ensure the tablet is registered online.
• Make sure system software and diagnostics application are updated.
• Ensure the tablet is connected to the Internet.
• Check all cables, connections, and indicators for signal reception.

1. Toqueu Centre d'usuaris d'Autel from the MaxiCOM Job Menu.
2. Log in with your Autel ID or register a new account.
3. Seleccioneu Gestió de dispositius i toqueu Enllaça el dispositiu to register your tool.

Registration via Autel Weblloc:

1. Visita pro.autel.com.
2. Log in or register a new Autel ID.
3. Enter the required personal information and verify your email.
4. Enter your tool's serial number and password (found in Configuració > Quant a on the tablet) on the Product Registration screen.

9.4 Actualització de programari

The Update application allows you to download and install the latest released software, which improves capabilities, adds new tests, expands vehicle coverage, and enhances applications.

NOTA:

Make sure the tablet is registered before activating the Update application.

To Update the Software:

1. Power up the tablet and ensure a steady Internet connection.
2. Toqueu Actualització application button from the MaxiCOM Job Menu.
3. Toqueu Aconsegueix to update specific items or Actualitza-ho tot for all available items.
4. The software will be installed automatically upon completion.

VCI Update:

The VCI firmware can also be updated via the VCI Manager > VCI Update menu. Ensure the tablet network is stable and the VCI is connected to the tablet via USB or Bluetooth.

BAS Update:

The MaxiBAS BT506 tester's firmware can be updated via the VCI Manager > BAS Update menu. Ensure the tablet network is stable and the BT506 is connected to the tablet via Bluetooth or USB cable.
