1. Introducció

The DALY Intelligent Active Equalizing BMS (Battery Management System) combines an active equalizer with a BMS to provide enhanced battery protection and active cell balancing. This system intelligently manages power transfer between cells, ensuring voltage balance and improving the overall performance and lifespan of your battery pack.

It is suitable for Li-ion, LiFePO4, and LTO battery packs ranging from 3S to 24S configurations.

2. Configuració i instal·lació

2.1 Important Notes Before Installation

  • This product link supports Bluetooth and UART communication only. For RS485, CAN, or Parallel functions, contact customer service before ordering.
  • The BMS includes a 1A active balancer. The balance current can be set between 0.2A and 1A via the Bluetooth application.
  • The shipping package includes: 1A active balancer, 1 Bluetooth module, 1 balance cable, 1 English manual, and 1 NTC temperature sensor cable.
  • When using the Smart BMS for the first time, it needs to be activated. After activation, the B- and P- terminals will become conductive, and the voltage from P- will match B-.

2.2 Wiring Diagram (Same Port)

Precaució: Different manufacturers may use different colors for balance wires. Always pay close attention to the B+ and B- markings.

  1. Balance Wire Connection: Do not insert the BMS when welding the sampling table. The first wire (black wire) connects to the total negative terminal (B-). The second wire (red wire) connects to the first positive terminal (B1+). Continue connecting subsequent red wires to B2+, B3+, and so on, until the last wire connects to the total positive terminal (B+). Ensure the balance wires are connected in the correct order. For example, for a 13S battery pack, connect the first wire to B-, the second to B1+, up to the 14th wire to B13+. The last wire connects to B+.
  2. Voltage Comproveu: El voltage difference between adjacent cells should be within the following ranges:
    • Li-ion: 2.5V - 4.2V
    • LiFePO4: 2.5V - 3.65V
    • LTO: 1.8V - 2.8V
  3. Main Power Connections: Connect the thick blue B- wire from the battery pack to the total negative electrode B- of the BMS. Connect the thick P- wire from the battery pack to the total negative electrode P- of the BMS.
  4. Charger and Load Connection: Connect the charger and load to the P- terminal of the BMS and the B+ terminal of the battery pack.
  5. Sensor de temperatura NTC: After the wires are soldered to the battery pack, insert the NTC sensor and check the battery temperature at the APP interface.
  6. Cables de comunicació: The communication cables are divided into three protocols: UART, RS485, and CAN. Use the appropriate cable according to your needs. For communication with upper machine software, use the relevant cable.

2.3 Activating the BMS

The BMS plug and active equalizer plug can be used without distinction. After inserting the APP, turn on the positioning and Bluetooth function of your phone. Once the capacity is set, the battery pack can be charged. Charging will trigger the second-level overcharge protection, and the State of Charge (SOC) will automatically calibrate to 100%.

3.1 Smart Communication and Real-Time Monitoring

The DALY Smart BMS supports UART and Bluetooth communication protocols for real-time monitoring and setting of active balanced data via a mobile phone app or computer host software. RS485 and CAN communication are also available depending on the model.

  1. Download the 'Smart BMS' app from your mobile phone's application market. If unavailable, contact customer service.
  2. After installation, enable location services and Bluetooth on your phone.
  3. Open the app. In the first interface, you will see the Bluetooth serial number (match it with the serial number on the physical Bluetooth module).
  4. Click 'Bluetooth' to enter the app. Input the actual capacity (XXAH) of your battery pack.
  5. Go to 'Settings', enter password '123456', and refresh the capacity. The entered capacity will be updated.
  6. After setting the capacity, the battery pack can be charged. Charging will trigger the second-level overcharge protection, and the SOC will automatically calibrate to 100%.

3.2 Smart Cell Balancing

The BMS intelligently balances cells by transferring power with a 0-1A current. This non-internal resistance energy dissipation equalization method ensures low heating and can be connected to the battery pack for extended periods.

The balancing function is intelligently activated. Opening conditions can be set and modified, with a minimum voltage difference of 20mV between battery cells required to initiate balancing.

The DALY Smart BMS is designed for durability and long-term performance. Its PCB features high anti-corrosion, high water resistance, and high impedance ESD conformal coating, contributing to its robust nature.

To ensure optimal performance and extend the lifespan of your battery pack, the BMS actively prevents premature deterioration of individual cells, leading to a stronger and more stable overall battery power.

Regularly monitor battery parameters via the mobile app or PC software to identify any anomalies early. Keep the BMS and battery connections clean and free from debris.

If a protection is triggered, the BMS will typically recover automatically once the fault condition is removed. Refer to the app or PC software for specific error codes or status indicators.

5.2 General Troubleshooting Tips

  • BMS Not Working / No Output: Ensure the BMS has been activated after the first use. Check all wiring connections for correctness and tightness.
  • Incorrect Parameter Settings: Incorrect parameter settings in the app or PC software can prevent normal operation. If you are unsure, reset to default or consult customer service. Avoid modifying special parameters without professional guidance.
  • Balancing Issues: Check the status light (Green light off indicates undervoltage, breakdown, or stopped equalizing). Ensure the voltage difference between cells is at least 20mV for balancing to initiate.
  • Problemes de càrrega: Ensure you are using a charger specifically designed for lithium batteries. Using incompatible chargers can damage the MOS tube due to voltage inestabilitat.
  • Components incompatibles: The active equalization BMS (including active equalizer and BMS) must match the battery pack with the same string number of cells. Incompatible combinations are strictly prohibited.

8.1 Choosing the Correct BMS

It is crucial to select the correct DALY active equalizing BMS for your battery pack. Consider the following:

  • Tipus de bateria: The Smart Active Cell Balancing BMS is suitable for Li-ion, LiFePO4, and LTO battery packs.
  • String Count: The number of strings for the active equalizer and the battery pack must be identical. You cannot connect them if they have different string counts.
  • Equalizing Current: Calculate the maximum output current using the formula: Power ÷ (Strings of Battery Packs × Overdischarge Voltage). Choose a BMS with a current value larger than your controller's current limit.
  • ExampLI: For a 5-string battery pack, use a 5-string active equalizer and a 5-string BMS.

8.2 Connectivitat

The DALY Smart BMS primarily uses Bluetooth and UART for communication. It does no support direct Wi-Fi connection. For wired communication with a computer, a UART cable is used.
