High Precision Non-Contact Temperature Measurement

1. Introducció

This infrared thermometer is designed for measuring the surface temperature of various objects. It provides a safe and quick method for temperature measurement, especially for hot, hazardous, or hard-to-reach surfaces, without requiring direct contact. The device offers features such as rapid response, laser positioning, audio-visual alerts, and switchable temperature units (Celsius/Fahrenheit).

2. Advertències i precaucions de seguretat

2.1. Avisos

To prevent potential harm or damage, please observe the following:

  • Before each use, carefully inspect the plastic housing. Do not use the unit if there is any visible damage.
  • Never point the laser directly at eyes or indirectly off reflective surfaces.
  • Do not use this unit in environments containing explosive gas, steam, or dust.

2.2. Precaucions

To prevent damage to the unit or the target, protect it from the following situations:

  • Avoid strong electromagnetic fields (EMF) from sources like arc welders or induction heaters.
  • If the unit experiences a large or abrupt ambient temperature change (thermal shock), allow 30 minutes for the unit to stabilize before use to ensure accurate readings.
  • Do not leave the unit on or near objects of excessively high temperature.

3.2. Instal·lació de la bateria

The thermometer requires two 1.5V AAA batteries (not included by default).

  1. Locate the battery compartment at the bottom of the handle.
  2. Open the battery compartment by rotating the switch knob with a screwdriver to the 'OPEN' position.
  3. Insert two 1.5V AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Close the battery compartment by rotating the switch knob to the 'LOCK' position.

4. Funcionament

4.1. Prendre Mides

The thermometer supports both single and continuous measurement modes.

  • Mesura única: Pull and release the trigger. The laser point will activate to help aim at the target. The measured temperature will be displayed on the LCD screen. The "HOLD" symbol will appear, indicating the reading is held.
  • Mesura contínua: Pull and hold the trigger. Slowly move the thermometer across the target area. The device will continuously scan and display the temperature on the LCD. The "SCAN" symbol will appear. The maximum temperature value during continuous measurement will also be displayed.

4.2. Button Functions and Display Indicators

The device features several buttons for controlling its functions and various indicators on the display:

  • HOLD (A): Appears when a single measurement is taken and the trigger is released, indicating the current temperature value is held.
  • SCAN (B): Appears during continuous measurement when the trigger is held, indicating the thermometer is actively scanning.
  • Laser Point Switch (Button with triangle/laser icon): Press to turn the laser pointer on or off. The laser is for aiming only.
  • Backlight Button (Lightbulb icon): Press to turn the LCD backlight on or off.
  • Celsius/Fahrenheit Switch (C/°F button): Press to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units.
  • Emissivity Adjustment (Long press C/°F button): For models with adjustable emissivity (T400A, T600A), long press the C/°F button. The preset emissivity (0.95) will be displayed. Use the laser point switch or backlight button to increase or decrease the value, then press C/°F again to save.
  • Power (E): Indicació de la capacitat de la bateria.
  • Temperature Value (G): Mostra la temperatura mesurada actual.
  • Emissivity Symbol (H): Indicates the current emissivity setting.
  • Max Symbol (I): Indicates the maximum temperature value.
  • Max Temperature Value (J): Displays the maximum temperature recorded during continuous measurement.

4.3. Distance to Spot Size (D:S Ratio)

The accuracy of measurement depends on the distance to the target and the size of the measurement spot. This model has a Distance to Spot (D:S) ratio of 12:1. This means that as the distance (D) from the thermometer to the target surface increases, the diameter of the measurement spot (S) on the target surface also increases.

  • Per example, at a distance of 300mm (12 inches), the spot diameter is 38mm (1.5 inches).
  • At 900mm (36 inches), the spot diameter is 75mm (3.0 inches).
  • At 1500mm (60 inches), the spot diameter is 132mm (5.3 inches).

Scope of Observation: Ensure that the target you are measuring is larger than the measurement area. For accurate readings, the target should ideally be at least twice as large as the measuring spot. If the target is smaller, move the thermometer closer to it.

Diagram illustrating the Distance to Spot Ratio (D:S = 12:1) for the infrared thermometer. It shows how the measurement spot size increases with distance from the target. Examples include spot diameters of 38mm at 300mm distance, 75mm at 900mm, and 132mm at 1500mm.
Figure 6: Distance to Spot Ratio (D:S = 12:1) explanation.

4.4. Emissivity Guide

Different materials have different emissivities, which affects the accuracy of infrared temperature measurement. For models with adjustable emissivity (T400A, T600A), you can set the emissivity value to match the target material for more accurate readings. The default emissivity is 0.95. Below is a general guide for common materials:

5. Manteniment

5.1. Neteja de lents

The lens is the most delicate part of the thermometer. Keep it clean to ensure accuracy.

  1. First, use compressed air to blow away any loose debris or dust from the lens surface.
  2. Gently wipe away any remaining small debris with a camel hair brush.
  3. Finally, carefully wipe the lens surface with a soft, wet cotton cloth.

5.2. Shell Cleaning

To clean the exterior shell of the thermometer:

  • Use a sponge or a soft cloth dampacabat amb aigua i sabó suau.
  • Wipe the surface gently and then dry with a clean, soft cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the plastic housing.
