Utilizing energy transfer active balancing technology with independent intellectual property rights, the protection board achieves a continuous balance current of 1A/2A. This high-current active equalization ensures battery consistency, extends battery range, and delays battery aging. The system is supported by a mobile APP (Android and iOS) that connects via Bluetooth, allowing users to monitor battery status, modify parameters, and control charge/discharge switches. Its compact size, ease of operation, and comprehensive functionality make it suitable for a wide range of applications, including small sightseeing vehicles, mobility scooters, shared cars, high-power energy storage systems, base station backup power supplies, and solar power stations.

3.1. Desembalatge i inspecció

Upon receiving the product, handle the packaging and the protection board gently. Avoid inverting the package. Before opening, inspect the package for any signs of impact or damage. The package contents typically include:

3.2. Esquema de cablejat

The JK-BxAxxS-15P/20P series protection board is suitable for 7-24 series lithium battery packs. The wiring method varies depending on the number of cells in the battery pack. Ensure all connections are secure and correct before powering on the BMS.

3.3. Definició de la interfície

3.4. Activació del dispositiu

Before powering on the protection board, ensure that the balance cables are properly connected and that P- and B- are correctly wired. Verify that the protection board is securely fixed to the battery pack. Incorrect connections can lead to abnormal operation or damage.

The protection board does not have a power-on control switch. It is designed for charging activation: the charger voltage ha de ser 2V superior al volum de la bateriatage. After battery assembly, connect the charger to activate the protection board.

Alternatively, the protection board supports key activation and display activation. If you have an optional display screen and button, simply insert the cable into the display interface and press the button to activate the BMS.

4. Funcionament

4.1. APP Installation and Usage

The JIKONG BMS can be controlled and monitored via a mobile APP available for Android (version 7 minimum) and iOS. Scan the QR code below to download the APP.

The APP allows you to:

  • Monitor battery working status.
  • Modify protection board parameters.
  • Control charge and discharge switches.
  • View multi-screen display and data connection.

4.2. Active Equalization

The BMS employs active equalization to transfer energy from higher voltage cells to lower voltage cells, ensuring voltage balance. Before using this function, set the basic battery parameters (battery type, number of cells, capacity, trigger equalization differential pressure, voltage calibration, current calibration) in the APP. The default balance current is 1A/2A, adjustable based on battery capacity (recommended not to exceed 0.2C of battery capacity). Equalization automatically activates when the voltage difference between any two battery strings exceeds the set value and turns off when it falls below the set value. If not needed, the equalization switch can be turned off in the BMS control page of the APP.

4.3. Funció de calefacció

The BMS supports an optional heating function for low-temperature environments. A resistance heater or heating film warms the battery to prevent reduced activity and charging/discharging issues. The designed heating current is 4A. Users can switch this function on/off via the APP based on ambient temperature. It is recommended to install a temperature control switch (45°C to 65°C normally closed) in series with the heating circuit as a secondary protection to prevent thermal runaway.

4.4. Communication Function

The BMS supports optional CAN/RS485 communication. Users can select CAN or RS485 for multiplexed ports in the APP's BMS control page. The address and communication protocol can be configured according to specific requirements and scenarios. Refer to the Jikong Protection Board communication protocol document for details.

4.5. GPS and Display Interface

The BMS includes reserved GPS and display interfaces. Users can connect an optional GPS module for battery location tracking and an optional display screen to view battery information, customizing according to their needs.

4.6. Intelligent Sleep

The intelligent sleep function is standard and can be enabled/disabled via the APP. Its purpose is to reduce the BMS's self-consumption by shutting down when the board is in standby (charging/discharging current less than 1A for 26 consecutive hours). The BMS can be reactivated by pressing a button or connecting a charger.

4.7. Interruptor d'emergència

A standard emergency switch function is available. If issues like over-temperature, over-discharge, over-charge, or string drops occur during normal use, activating the emergency switch in the APP's BMS control page will enable charge and discharge for 30 minutes. This provides emergency operating time, even if a single cell reaches automatic shutdown voltage, preventing critical failures during operation.

4.8. Discharge Precharge Function

The discharge precharge function is standard, with a default precharge time of 5 seconds. Users can enable/disable or adjust the precharge time as needed. Setting the precharge time to 0 disables the function.

5.1. Overcharge Protection and Recovery

The BMS includes standard overcharge protection. Users can set the single cell overcharge protection voltage and recovery voltage via the APP. If any cell's voltage exceeds the set overcharge protection during charging, the BMS will stop charging. Charging resumes when all cell voltages fall below the recovery voltage, preventing cell damage from overcharging.

5.2. Discharge Undervoltage Protection and Recovery

Standard discharge undervoltage protection is provided. Users can set the battery undervoltage protecció voltage, recovery voltage, and automatic shutdown voltage in the APP. If any cell's voltage drops below the protection threshold during discharge, the BMS will stop discharging. Discharge resumes when all cell voltages rise above the recovery voltage. If any cell's voltage falls below the automatic shutdown voltage, the BMS will automatically shut down to protect the battery.

5.3. Charge Overcurrent Protection and Recovery

The BMS features standard charge overcurrent protection. Users can set the continuous charging current, overcurrent delay, and recovery time in the APP. If the charging current exceeds the set continuous current for the specified delay, the BMS will stop charging. Charging resumes after the overcurrent recovery time has passed.

5.4. Discharge Overcurrent Protection and Recovery

Standard discharge overcurrent protection is included. Users can set the continuous discharge current, overcurrent delay, and recovery time in the APP. If the discharge current exceeds the set continuous current for the specified delay, the BMS will stop discharging. Discharge resumes after the overcurrent recovery time. Note: The maximum continuous discharge current should not exceed the nominal current (150A/200A).

5.5. Overtemperature Protection and Recovery

The BMS provides standard charge and discharge overtemperature protection. Users can set the overtemperature protection and recovery thresholds for both charging and discharging in the APP. If the battery temperature exceeds the set limit, the BMS will stop the respective operation (charging or discharging). Operation resumes when the temperature falls below the recovery threshold.

5.6. Low Temperature Protection and Recovery

Standard charging low temperature protection is included. Users can set the low temperature protection and recovery thresholds for charging in the APP. If the battery temperature drops below the set limit, the BMS will stop charging. Charging resumes when the temperature rises above the recovery threshold. For extremely cold environments, using the optional heating function is recommended.

5.7. Short Circuit Protection and Recovery

The BMS is equipped with standard short circuit protection. Users can set the short circuit protection delay and recovery time in the APP. If a short circuit is detected, the BMS will activate protection. If a short circuit occurs during initial charging or loading due to high peak currents (e.g., from charger turn-on or load capacitance), increasing the short circuit protection delay may resolve the issue. The BMS will resume operation after the short circuit recovery time.

6.1. Battery Draining When Idle

Problema: The BMS appears to drain the battery when left idle for an extended period (e.g., a month).

Possible causa: The BMS might be consuming power in standby mode, or the intelligent sleep function is not activated or configured correctly.

  1. Activate Intelligent Sleep: Ensure the intelligent sleep function is enabled in the mobile APP. This function is designed to reduce the BMS's self-consumption by shutting down when the charging/discharging current is less than 1A for 26 consecutive hours.
  2. Check for Parasitic Loads: Verify that there are no other devices or connections drawing power from the battery when the system is idle.
  3. BMS Reactivation: If the BMS enters intelligent sleep, it can be reactivated by pressing a connected button or by connecting a charger.
