Introducció

This manual provides detailed instructions for the HARIO Polaris Coffee Scale (Model: CST-2000-B). This scale is designed to fine-tune coffee recipes and brewing conditions by precisely measuring water volume and time. It simplifies the brewing process by calculating extraction ratios directly on the scale and displaying the amount of hot water to pour, along with a percentage indicator for extraction progress. This eliminates the need for manual calculations for each pour.

Configuració

1. Desembalatge

   Carefully remove the coffee scale from its packaging. Ensure all components are present and undamaged.

   Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the scale. Insert the required batteries (e.g., AAA batteries, not included) according to the polarity indicators. Close the compartment securely.

The HARIO Polaris Coffee Scale features two main modes: Polaris Mode for advanced brewing with ratio calculation and auto-timer, and Classic Mode for basic weighing and manual timing.

Polaris Mode Operation

Polaris Mode is designed to simplify precise pour-over coffee brewing by guiding you through the process with ratio adjustments and automatic timer activation.

1. Step 1: Power On and Tare

   Premeu llargament el botó on/off / tare button to turn on the scale. Place your coffee server, dripper, and paper filter on the weighing platform. Press the on/off / tare button once to reset the weight to zero (tare).

   

   Power on by long-pressing, then tare by pressing once after placing equipment.

2. Step 2: Add Coffee Grounds and Adjust Ratio

   Add your desired amount of coffee grounds into the dripper. Use the + or - buttons to adjust the brewing ratio to your preferred ratio. You can adjust based on desired coffee concentration or the total amount of coffee you wish to brew.

3. Step 3: Activate Percentage Display and Timer

   After setting your desired ratio, press the mode horari button once. The display will show a percentage, and the timer will start blinking. This indicates that Polaris Mode is ready. Be careful not to accidentally press the on/off button at this stage.

   

   Press the time mode button to activate the percentage display and blinking timer.

4. Step 4: Pour Hot Water

   Once the timer is blinking, begin pouring hot water. The timer will automatically start counting, and the percentage display will change, indicating the progress of your extraction. This helps you monitor your pour and extraction in real-time.

   

   The timer starts automatically when pouring begins, and the percentage shows extraction progress.

   Note on Auto-Timer: To temporarily pause or stop the auto-timer function, press the mode horari button while the timer is blinking. Press it again to resume the timer.

Switching Modes (Polaris / Classic)

To switch between Polaris Mode and Classic Mode, long-press the mode horari button. This action toggles between the two modes.

Classic Mode Operation

In Classic Mode, the scale functions as a standard digital scale with a manual timer.

Resolució de problemes

Display shows "EEE"

This error indicates that the total measured weight exceeds the maximum capacity (999g). Remove some weight from the scale. Also, ensure the scale is not in a direct draft from an air conditioner or fan, as this can cause weight instability and trigger this error. Relocate the scale to a stable, draft-free environment and try again.

Scale does not turn on or respond

• Verify the scale is on a flat, stable surface. Uneven surfaces can sometimes affect button responsiveness.

Auto-timer does not start in Polaris Mode

• Ensure you have completed Step 3 of Polaris Mode operation (pressing mode horari button once) and the timer is blinking before you start pouring water.
• If the auto-timer was previously paused, press the mode horari button again to reactivate it.

Percenttage display is not shown

Ensure the scale is in Polaris Mode and you have pressed the mode horari button once after setting the ratio (Step 3 of Polaris Mode operation).
