1. Introducció
This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of Tamiya XF-62 Olive Drab Acrylic Paint. Tamiya acrylic paints are formulated from water-soluble acrylic resins, suitable for both brush painting and airbrushing. They adhere well to various surfaces including styrol resins, Styrofoam, wood, and most common model plastics. The paint offers good coverage, smooth flow, and is easily blendable.

2.2. Flammability Warning
WARNING: FLAMMABLE. Tamiya acrylic paints and their dedicated thinners (e.g., X-20A) contain alcohol in their formulation, making them flammable. Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames, and other ignition sources. Store in a cool, well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight.
3. Configuració i preparació
3.1. Mixing the Paint
Before use, thoroughly stir the paint to ensure pigments are evenly distributed. A stirring stick or a dedicated paint mixer can be used. Ensure the paint has a consistent color and texture.
3.2. Thinning for Application
Tamiya acrylic paints may require thinning depending on the application method (brush or airbrush) and desired consistency. For best results, use Tamiya X-20A Acrylic Thinner. While some users may use distilled water or isopropyl alcohol, Tamiya X-20A is specifically formulated for optimal performance with Tamiya acrylics.
- For Brush Painting: Thin sparingly, if at all. A ratio of 10 parts paint to 1 part thinner (10:1) is a common starting point, adjusting as needed for smooth flow without losing opacity.
- For Airbrushing: Thinning is essential. A common ratio is 1 part paint to 1-2 parts thinner (1:1 or 1:2), depending on your airbrush nozzle size and desired paint flow. Test on a scrap piece before applying to your model.

4. Instruccions de funcionament
4.1. Preparació de la superfície
Ensure the surface to be painted is clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, or mold release agents. Priming the surface is recommended for better adhesion and a more uniform finish, especially on bare plastic or metal.
4.2. Mètodes d'aplicació
- Brush Painting: Apply paint in thin, even coats. Allow each coat to dry before applying the next to prevent brush marks and ensure proper adhesion. Multiple thin coats generally yield a better finish than one thick coat.
- Airbrushing: Ensure the paint is thinned to the correct consistency. Maintain a consistent distance and pressure while spraying to achieve an even coat. Overlap passes slightly to avoid streaks.
4.3. Temps d'assecat
Tamiya acrylic paints typically dry to the touch within 15-30 minutes, but a full cure can take up to 4 hours, depending on humidity and temperature. Allow adequate drying time between coats and before handling or applying subsequent layers (e.g., clear coats, decals).
5. Manteniment i emmagatzematge
5.1. Cleaning Tools
Clean brushes and airbrushes immediately after use with Tamiya X-20A Acrylic Thinner or a suitable acrylic cleaner. Water can also be used for initial cleaning, but a dedicated cleaner will ensure all paint residue is removed.
5.2. Paint Storage
Store paint jars tightly sealed in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Proper storage helps maintain paint consistency and extends shelf life.
6. Solució De Problemes
- Paint too thick/clogging airbrush: Increase thinning ratio with Tamiya X-20A Thinner. Ensure paint is thoroughly mixed.
- Poor coverage/transparency: Apply more thin coats. Ensure paint is not over-thinned. Consider using a primer.
- Rough or grainy finish: Paint may be drying too quickly before settling. Try reducing air pressure (for airbrushing) or working in a less arid environment. Ensure surface is clean.
- Paint peeling/poor adhesion: Ensure the surface was properly cleaned and primed. Allow sufficient drying time between coats.
