2. Configuració i instal·lació
The First Alert SCO5CN detector is designed for easy, battery-powered installation, requiring no electrical wiring. It comes with a mounting bracket and hardware for secure placement on a wall or ceiling.
2.1 Unpacking and Battery Installation
- Carefully remove the detector and all components from the packaging.
- Locate the battery compartment on the side of the unit. Slide open the battery door.
- Insert the two AA batteries provided, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -). The unit will chirp once to indicate it has powered on.

- Attach the mounting bracket to the ceiling or wall using the provided screws and anchors. Ensure the bracket is firmly secured.

3. Instruccions de funcionament
3.1 Botó de prova/silenci
The large 'Test/Silence' button on the front of the detector serves two primary functions:
- Prova: Press and hold the button to test the unit's electronic circuitry, horn, and battery. The alarm will sound, and the indicator lights will flash.
- Silenciment: Press the button to temporarily silence nuisance alarms (e.g., from cooking smoke) or the low battery chirp. The alarm will reset after a few minutes if the condition that caused the alarm has cleared.

3.2 Alarm Signals and Indicator Lights
The detector uses distinct audible and visual signals to communicate different conditions:
- Alarma de fum: A series of three loud beeps, followed by a pause, repeating. The 'Smoke' indicator light will flash.
- Alarma de monòxid de carboni: A series of four loud beeps, followed by a pause, repeating. The 'CO' indicator light will flash.

4. Manteniment

4.1 Proves setmanals
Test your detector weekly by pressing and holding the 'Test/Silence' button until the alarm sounds. This confirms the unit is functioning correctly.

Clean your detector at least once a month to remove dust and debris that could interfere with its operation. Use a soft brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to gently clean the vents and openings. Do not paint the detector.
4.4 End-of-Life Replacement
The detector has a limited lifespan. When the unit reaches its end-of-life (indicated by three chirps every minute), it must be replaced with a new one. This typically occurs after 10 years from the date of manufacture.
