This manual provides instructions for the safe and efficient use of your VARTA LCD Universal Charger. This device is designed to charge Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) rechargeable batteries of AA and AAA sizes. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the charger and retain it for future reference.

• Use this charger only for NiMH rechargeable batteries. Do not attempt to charge primary (non-rechargeable) batteries, alkaline batteries, or other battery types, as this may lead to leakage, rupture, or explosion.

• Avoid exposing the charger to water, high humidity, direct sunlight, or extreme temperatures.

Configuració

1. Connectar l'alimentació: Choose one of the following methods to power the charger:

Instruccions de funcionament

1. After connecting power and inserting batteries correctly, the LCD display will illuminate.
2. The LCD screen will show individual battery icons, indicating the charging status of each inserted battery. The segments within each battery icon will gradually fill up as the battery charges.
3. Once a battery is fully charged, its corresponding icon on the LCD display will show a full battery symbol. The charger will then switch to trickle charge mode to maintain the battery's full capacity.

The VARTA LCD Universal Charger incorporates several safety features to ensure safe and optimal charging:

• Minus Delta V (-ΔV) Cut-off: This method detects a slight voltage drop in a rechargeable battery when it is fully charged, preventing overcharging.
• Control de temperatura: The charger monitors the battery temperature during charging. If the temperature exceeds a safe limit, the charger automatically switches off.
• Temporitzador de seguretat: A built-in timer automatically switches off the charger after a specified duration, regardless of the charging status, as an additional safety measure against overcharging.
• Bad Cell / Alkaline / Wrong Polarity Detection: The charger identifies and prevents charging of primary (non-rechargeable) cells, defective cells, or batteries inserted with incorrect polarity.

Manteniment

• Clean the charger and battery contacts regularly with a dry, soft cloth.

Resolució de problemes

• Charger not working / LCD not illuminating:
  • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the charger and the power source.
  • Check if the power outlet or car socket is functional.
• Bateries que no es carreguen:
  • Verify that batteries are inserted with correct polarity (+ and -).
  • Ensure you are using NiMH rechargeable batteries. The charger will not charge primary (non-rechargeable) or defective batteries.
  • Check if the battery contacts on both the charger and batteries are clean.
  • Ensure you are charging 2 or 4 batteries at a time, as the charger operates in pairs.
• Batteries getting hot during charging:
  • Some warmth is normal, but excessive heat indicates a problem. Discontinue charging immediately.
