1. Introducció

The Tekpower DT830B is a compact and reliable digital multimeter designed for basic electrical measurements. It features a large LCD display and is capable of measuring DC voltage, vol. ACtage, DC current, resistance, diode forward voltage, and transistor hFE. This manual provides detailed instructions for safe and effective use of your multimeter.

2. Informació de seguretat

WARNING: To avoid electrical shock or damage to the meter, do not exceed the maximum input limits. Always remove test leads before opening the case for battery or fuse replacement.

  1. Pantalla LCD: Shows measurement readings, polarity, and unit symbols.
  2. Interruptor rotatiu: Used to select the desired measurement function and range.
  3. Preses d'entrada:
    • COM (Common) Jack: For the black (negative) test lead.
    • Presa VΩmA: For the red (positive) test lead for voltage, resistance, and current up to 200mA.
    • Jack de 10A: For the red (positive) test lead for current measurements between 200mA and 10A.
  4. hFE Socket: Used for testing transistors (NPN/PNP).

6. Configuració

6.1. Instal·lació de la bateria

The DT830B multimeter requires a 9V battery (NEDA 1604 or 6F22 type). To install or replace the battery:

  1. Ensure the multimeter is turned OFF and all test leads are disconnected from the input jacks.
  2. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit (refer to Figure 2.1).
  3. Remove the screw(s) securing the cover and carefully lift it off.

7.2. DC Voltage Mesurament (DCV)

  1. Set the rotary switch to the desired DCV range (e.g., 20V, 200V).
  2. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack and the red test lead to the VΩmA jack.
  3. Connect the test leads in parallel across the component or circuit to be measured.

7.3. AC Voltage Mesurament (ACV)

  1. Set the rotary switch to the desired ACV range (e.g., 200V, 750V).
  2. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack and the red test lead to the VΩmA jack.
  3. Connect the test leads in parallel across the AC source or component.

7.4. Mesura de corrent continu (DCA)

CAUTION: Never connect the meter in parallel with a voltage source when measuring current. This can blow the fuse or damage the meter.

  1. Set the rotary switch to the desired DCA range (e.g., 20mA, 200mA, 10A).
  2. For currents up to 200mA, connect the red test lead to the VΩmA jack. For currents up to 10A, connect the red test lead to the 10A jack. The black lead remains in COM.
  3. Disconnect power to the circuit. Break the circuit and connect the meter in series with the load.

CAUTION: Ensure the circuit under test is completely de-energized before measuring resistance. Do not measure resistance on live circuits.

  1. Set the rotary switch to the desired Resistance range (e.g., 200Ω, 2kΩ, 2MΩ).
  2. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack and the red test lead to the VΩmA jack.
  3. Connect the test leads across the component whose resistance is to be measured.

7.6. Prova de díodes

  1. Set the rotary switch to the Diode symbol (▶|).
  2. Connect the black test lead to the COM jack and the red test lead to the VΩmA jack.

  4. Reverse the leads. The display should show 'OL' (open circuit) for a good diode.

7.7. Transistor (hFE) Test

  2. Identify if the transistor is NPN or PNP.
  3. Insert the transistor leads (Emitter, Base, Collector) into the corresponding holes in the hFE socket on the multimeter.
  4. Read the hFE (DC current gain) value on the LCD display.

8. Manteniment

8.1. Substitució de la bateria

When the battery symbol appears on the LCD display, the 9V battery needs to be replaced. Follow the steps outlined in Section 6.1.

8.2. Substitució de fusibles

If the meter does not function correctly on current ranges, the fuse may be blown. The DT830B uses a 0.5A/250V fuse for the mA range and an unfused 10A range. To replace the fuse:

  1. Ensure the multimeter is turned OFF and all test leads are disconnected.

  4. Replace the battery and the compartment cover.
