Instruccions de muntatge

Assembly of your AstroMaster LT 70AZ telescope is straightforward and requires no tools. Follow these steps:

  1. Set up the Tripod: Spread the tripod legs apart until they are fully extended. Secure the accessory tray to the center brace of the tripod. Adjust the leg height to your desired viewnivell.
  2. Attach the Optical Tube: Locate the mounting plate on top of the alt-azimuth mount. Align the optical tube's dovetail bar with the slot on the mount and slide it in. Tighten the locking screw to secure the tube.

  4. Install the Finderscope: Slide the StarPointer red dot finderscope bracket into the receptacle on the optical tube near the focuser. Tighten the small screw on the receptacle to hold it in place. Remove the plastic battery tab if present.
  5. Insert the Star Diagonal: Loosen the thumbscrew on the focuser tube. Insert the chrome barrel of the 1.25” mirror star diagonal into the focuser. Tighten the thumbscrew to secure it.
  6. Insert an Eyepiece: Loosen the thumbscrew on the star diagonal. Insert the chrome barrel of either the 20mm or 10mm eyepiece into the star diagonal. Tighten the thumbscrew to secure it.

Initial Setup and Alignment

Alineació del cercador StarPointer

The StarPointer finderscope is a crucial tool for locating objects in the night sky. It must be aligned with the main telescope optics during daylight hours before first use.

  1. Choose a Target: During the day, point the main telescope (with the 20mm eyepiece installed) at an easily identifiable, distant object like a telephone pole or a street sign. Center the object in the telescope's eyepiece.
  2. Activate the Finderscope: Turn on the StarPointer finderscope by rotating the switch on its side. A small red dot will appear in the center of the finderscope's window.
  3. Adjust the Finderscope: Without moving the main telescope, use the two adjustment knobs on the finderscope (one for horizontal, one for vertical) to move the red dot until it is centered on the same object you see in the main telescope's eyepiece.
  4. Verifica l'alineació: Once aligned, the object should be visible in both the finderscope's red dot and the main telescope's eyepiece. This alignment should hold for future viewing sessions, though occasional checks are recommended.

Funcionament del vostre telescopi

Centrant-se

To achieve a sharp image, rotate the focus knob located on the side of the focuser tube. Turn it slowly in one direction until the image becomes clear, then fine-tune by turning it slightly in the opposite direction until the sharpest focus is achieved.

Canvi d'ampliació

Your telescope comes with two eyepieces: a 20mm eyepiece for lower magnification (35x) and a wider field of view, and a 10mm eyepiece for higher magnification (70x) and more detailed views. To change magnification, remove the current eyepiece from the star diagonal by loosening its thumbscrew, then insert the desired eyepiece and tighten the thumbscrew.

Pointing and Tracking

The alt-azimuth mount allows for easy movement. Use the panhandle to move the telescope up, down, and side-to-side. Once an object is located in the finderscope, center it in the main telescope's eyepiece. Due to Earth's rotation, celestial objects will appear to drift across the field of view. Use the panhandle to gently track the object and keep it centered.

Daytime and Nighttime Viewing

The AstroMaster LT 70AZ provides a right-side-up image, making it suitable for both astronomical and terrestrial viewing. For daytime observations, ensure you never point the telescope directly at the sun, as this can cause permanent eye damage. For nighttime observations, allow your eyes to adapt to the dark for at least 20 minutes for optimal viewing.

Programari d'Astronomia

Your telescope includes a download for astronomy software. This software can help you plan your observing sessions by showing you what celestial objects are visible from your location at any given time.

Cura i Manteniment

Neteja òptica

Dust and moisture on the optical surfaces can degrade image quality. To clean the objective lens or eyepieces:

  • Use a camel hair brush or compressed air to gently remove loose dust particles.
  • For fingerprints or smudges, use a specialized optical cleaning solution and lens tissue. Apply a small amount of solution to the tissue, not directly to the lens, and wipe gently in a circular motion from the center outwards.
  • Avoid touching optical surfaces with your fingers.

Emmagatzematge

When not in use, store your telescope in a clean, dry, and dust-free environment. Replace all lens caps to protect the optics. Avoid storing the telescope in areas with extreme temperature fluctuations or high humidity.

Resolució de problemes

Problem: Image is blurry or out of focus.
Solució: Adjust the focus knob slowly until the image becomes sharp. Ensure the eyepiece is fully inserted and secured in the star diagonal.
Problem: Cannot find objects in the main telescope.
Solució: Ensure the StarPointer finderscope is properly aligned with the main telescope. Practice locating bright objects during the day. Start with the lowest magnification eyepiece (20mm) for a wider field of view.
Problem: StarPointer red dot is dim or not visible.
Solució: Check if the battery tab has been removed. Ensure the power switch is turned on. The battery may need replacement (1 Lithium Metal battery, included).
Problem: Objects drift out of view massa ràpid.
Solució: This is normal due to Earth's rotation. Use the panhandle to gently track the object and keep it centered in the eyepiece.
