1. Introducció

The Polycom VVX 310 is a powerful 6-line entry-level Business Media Phone designed for cubicle workers who manage a low to moderate volume of calls and require clear communication. This guide provides essential information for setting up, operating, and maintaining your VVX 310 phone.

3. Configuració

3.1 Desembalatge

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that you have the phone base, handset, handset cord, and an Ethernet cable. An AC power adapter is not included as the phone is primarily designed for Power Over Ethernet (POE).

3.2 Connexió del telèfon

  1. Connect the handset cord to the handset and the handset port on the phone base.
  2. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the phone and the other end to a POE-enabled network switch or router. If POE is not available, connect an optional AC power adapter (not included) to the phone's power port and a wall outlet.
  3. Connect a second Ethernet cable (if needed) from the PC port on the phone to your computer.

3.3 Configuració inicial

Upon connecting, the phone will power on and begin its boot sequence. It will attempt to obtain network settings and configuration from your VoIP service provider. This process is often automated through Polycom Zero Touch Provisioning.

3.4 Procediment de restabliment de fàbrica

If you encounter issues with pre-configured settings or need to reset the phone to its default state, follow these steps:

  1. While the device is booting and after the Polycom logo appears, press the soft key for "starting application..." then press "Cancel".
  2. Before the timer counts down, press and hold keys 1, 3, and 5 simultaneously for more than 2-3 seconds, then release. The prompt "Enter password:" should appear.
  3. Toggle the 1->Aa soft key to enter letters. Enter the phone's MAC address (found on the label on the back of the phone) without colons and in all capital letters. Note: The entry will be starred out for security. To enter letters, press the appropriate number key multiple times for the corresponding letter (e.g., '2' for A, B, C).
  4. If successfully entered, the device will reboot with the administrator password reset to '456'. You may then enable the web interface from the phone's menu for easier provisioning.

4.1 Fer i rebre trucades

  • Per fer una trucada: Pick up the handset, press a line key, or press the Speaker button. Dial the number and press the Dial soft key or wait for automatic dialing.

  • Per finalitzar una trucada: Replace the handset, or press the End Call soft key.

4.2 Using the Display and Navigation

The grayscale LCD displays call information, menu options, and status indicators. Use the navigation cluster (up, down, left, right arrows, and select button) to move through menus and select options. The soft keys located directly below the display change functionality based on the current context.

4.3 Funcions avançades

  • Veu HD: Experience enhanced audio quality during calls, especially with other HD Voice-enabled devices.

5. Manteniment

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Polycom VVX 310 phone, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Clean the phone regularly with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
  • Avoid using liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays directly on the phone.
  • Keep the phone away from excessive moisture, heat, and direct sunlight.

  • Keys feel sticky or display has delayed response:
    While some users have reported these issues, they can indicate a hardware problem. Ensure the phone is clean and free of debris. If the problem persists, contact Polycom support or your service provider.
  • Cannot log in or reset password:
    If the default administrator password (often '456') does not work, refer to the 'Factory Reset Procedure' in Section 3.4 to reset the phone to its factory defaults and regain access.
  • Poor voice quality:
    Check your network connection for stability and bandwidth. Ensure other devices on the network are not consuming excessive bandwidth.
