Filter Performance

The Filtrete Ultra Allergen Reduction Filter has a Microparticle Performance Rating (MPR) of 1500. The MPR system measures a filter's effectiveness at capturing the smallest airborne particles. 3M calculates the MPR by measuring particle data between 0.3 and 1 micron. This specific size range is considered the most challenging to capture, as 99% of typical atmospheric particles are smaller than one micron.

Electrostatic filters, like this Filtrete model, are most effective when new and clean. Regular replacement ensures consistent performance in capturing allergens and other airborne particles.

1. Prepareu el filtre: Remove any plastic wrap and paper inserts from the filter. Do not cut or remove the cardboard frame.

Filter Maintenance: How Often to Change Your Filter

For optimal air quality and system efficiency, it is recommended to change your Filtrete filter at least every three months. Changing your filter more frequently can also contribute to a more efficient HVAC system operation.

Certain conditions in your home can significantly increase the particle load on the filter, shortening its effective life to less than three months and reducing its ability to capture particles. These conditions include:
