Reef Octopus BR70 Biopellet Reactor User Manual

1. Introducció

The Reef Octopus BR70 Biopellet Reactor is an advanced filtration device designed to facilitate the use of biopellets for effective nutrient reduction in marine and reef aquariums. This reactor provides an optimal environment for beneficial bacteria to consume nitrates and phosphates, thereby improving water quality and promoting a healthier aquatic ecosystem. Proper installation and maintenance are crucial for optimal performance.

4. Configuració i instal·lació

Follow these steps for proper installation of your BR70 Biopellet Reactor:

  1. Rinse the Reactor: Thoroughly rinse all reactor components with clean freshwater to remove any manufacturing residues.
  2. Add Biopellets: Open the reactor lid and add the recommended amount of biopellets. For general guidance, approximately 500ml of biopellets is recommended per 100 gallons of aquarium water. Do not overfill the reactor.
  3. Biopellets inside the reactor

  4. Assegureu la tapa: Place the lid back onto the reactor and secure it using the fastening screws. Tighten screws evenly but avoid overtightening to prevent damage.
  5. Reactor top connection

  6. Connectar la bomba d'aigua: Connect the reactor to a suitable water pump (not included) using appropriate tubing. The pump should be capable of providing a flow rate sufficient to keep the biopellets in a gentle tumble. A flow rate of 10-20 times the reactor's volume per hour is typically recommended.
  7. Col·locació: Position the reactor in your aquarium or sump. Ensure that the water inlet and outlet are correctly oriented to allow for proper water flow through the reactor. The outlet water should ideally be directed towards a protein skimmer for optimal nutrient export.

5. Funcionament

Once installed, power on the water pump connected to the reactor. Observe the biopellets inside the chamber. They should be in a constant, gentle tumble. Adjust the flow rate of your pump as needed to achieve this tumbling action. Avoid excessive flow that might grind the pellets or insufficient flow that causes them to clump. It may take several weeks for the biopellets to become fully colonized by bacteria and for nutrient reduction to become noticeable.

7. Solució De Problemes

ProblemaCausa possibleSolució
Biopellets not tumblingInsufficient flow from pump; clogged media screen; too many pellets.Increase pump flow; clean media screen; reduce pellet volume.
Fuita d'aigua per les connexionsLoose fittings; damaged O-rings.Check and tighten all connections; inspect and replace O-rings if necessary.
No noticeable nutrient reductionNew setup (bacteria not colonized); incorrect pellet volume; insufficient flow; high nutrient input.Allow more time (up to 6 weeks); verify pellet volume and flow; reduce feeding or increase water changes.
