1. Introducció
The Reef Octopus BR70 Biopellet Reactor is an advanced filtration device designed to facilitate the use of biopellets for effective nutrient reduction in marine and reef aquariums. This reactor provides an optimal environment for beneficial bacteria to consume nitrates and phosphates, thereby improving water quality and promoting a healthier aquatic ecosystem. Proper installation and maintenance are crucial for optimal performance.

2. Informació de seguretat
- Always disconnect power to all aquarium equipment before performing any maintenance or installation.
- Assegureu-vos que totes les connexions estiguin ben fixades per evitar fuites.
- Do not overtighten plastic screws, as this may cause damage.
- Mantingueu els components elèctrics allunyats de l'aigua.
- This product is intended for aquarium use only.
3. Contingut del paquet
Verifiqueu que tots els components estiguin presents i no estiguin danyats en obrir l'envàs:
- Reef Octopus BR70 Biopellet Reactor unit (clear cylinder, red top and base)
- Internal plumbing (riser tube, diffuser plate)
- Inlet and outlet fittings (elbow and straight connectors)
- Fastening screws for the lid
- Media screen
4. Configuració i instal·lació
Follow these steps for proper installation of your BR70 Biopellet Reactor:
- Rinse the Reactor: Thoroughly rinse all reactor components with clean freshwater to remove any manufacturing residues.
- Add Biopellets: Open the reactor lid and add the recommended amount of biopellets. For general guidance, approximately 500ml of biopellets is recommended per 100 gallons of aquarium water. Do not overfill the reactor.
- Assegureu la tapa: Place the lid back onto the reactor and secure it using the fastening screws. Tighten screws evenly but avoid overtightening to prevent damage.
- Connectar la bomba d'aigua: Connect the reactor to a suitable water pump (not included) using appropriate tubing. The pump should be capable of providing a flow rate sufficient to keep the biopellets in a gentle tumble. A flow rate of 10-20 times the reactor's volume per hour is typically recommended.
- Col·locació: Position the reactor in your aquarium or sump. Ensure that the water inlet and outlet are correctly oriented to allow for proper water flow through the reactor. The outlet water should ideally be directed towards a protein skimmer for optimal nutrient export.

5. Funcionament
Once installed, power on the water pump connected to the reactor. Observe the biopellets inside the chamber. They should be in a constant, gentle tumble. Adjust the flow rate of your pump as needed to achieve this tumbling action. Avoid excessive flow that might grind the pellets or insufficient flow that causes them to clump. It may take several weeks for the biopellets to become fully colonized by bacteria and for nutrient reduction to become noticeable.
6. Manteniment
- Inspecció periòdica: Periodically check the reactor for proper biopellet tumbling and ensure there are no blockages in the inlet or outlet fittings.
- Media Screen Cleaning: The internal media screen should be regularly cleaned to prevent clogging from detritus or bacterial film. This helps maintain optimal flow.
- Biopellet Replacement: Biopellets will slowly diminish over time as they are consumed by bacteria. Monitor the volume of pellets and replenish them as necessary, typically every 6-12 months, depending on the brand and aquarium load.
- Full Cleaning: Every few months, or if performance degrades, disassemble the reactor and clean all components thoroughly with warm water and a soft brush. Avoid using harsh chemicals.
7. Solució De Problemes
| Problema | Causa possible | Solució |
|---|---|---|
| Biopellets not tumbling | Insufficient flow from pump; clogged media screen; too many pellets. | Increase pump flow; clean media screen; reduce pellet volume. |
| Fuita d'aigua per les connexions | Loose fittings; damaged O-rings. | Check and tighten all connections; inspect and replace O-rings if necessary. |
| No noticeable nutrient reduction | New setup (bacteria not colonized); incorrect pellet volume; insufficient flow; high nutrient input. | Allow more time (up to 6 weeks); verify pellet volume and flow; reduce feeding or increase water changes. |
