Característiques principals:

3. Configuració i calibratge

Proper setup and calibration are critical for accurate measurements. The bore gage must be set to a known standard before use.

  1. Desembalatge: Carefully remove the dial bore gage and its components from the fitted case. Inspect for any visible damage.
  2. Muntatge de components:
    • Attach the appropriate measuring contact point and anvil to the measuring head based on the bore size to be measured.
    • Ensure the dial indicator is securely mounted to the gage body.
  3. Estàndard de calibració: Obtain a suitable calibration standard, such as an outside micrometer or a master setting ring, that matches the nominal size of the bore you intend to measure. The accuracy of your measurements depends directly on the accuracy of your calibration standard.
  4. Setting the Gage:
    • Place the measuring head of the bore gage into the calibration standard (e.g., between the anvils of an outside micrometer set to the desired dimension).
    • Gently rock the gage to find the minimum reading, which represents the true diameter.
    • Rotate the dial bezel until the dial indicator's needle points to zero at this minimum reading. This sets the gage to the reference dimension.
    • Verify the zero setting by removing and re-inserting the gage into the standard several times to ensure consistency.

Nota: Always calibrate the bore gage to the specific nominal size you are measuring for optimal accuracy. Recalibrate if changing measuring contact points or if there is any doubt about the current setting.

4. Instruccions de funcionament

Follow these steps for accurate bore measurement after proper setup and calibration:

  1. Insert the Gage: Carefully insert the measuring head of the bore gage into the bore to be measured. Ensure the measuring faces are fully engaged with the bore walls.
  2. Find the Minimum Reading: Gently rock the bore gage back and forth across the diameter of the bore. Observe the dial indicator. The lowest point indicated by the needle during this rocking motion represents the true diameter of the bore at that specific cross-section.
  3. Llegeix la mesura:
    • If the needle moves to the right (clockwise) from zero, the bore is larger than the calibrated standard.
    • If the needle moves to the left (counter-clockwise) from zero, the bore is smaller than the calibrated standard.
    • The reading on the dial indicates the deviation from the set zero point. For example, if the gage was set to 3.0000 inches and the dial reads +0.0005, the actual bore size is 3.0005 inches. If it reads -0.0003, the actual bore size is 2.9997 inches.
  4. Multiple Measurements: For critical applications, take multiple measurements at different depths and rotational positions within the bore to assess roundness, taper, and overall bore geometry.
  5. Withdraw the Gage: Carefully remove the bore gage from the workpiece after measurement.

Important: Avoid applying excessive force during insertion or measurement, as this can lead to inaccurate readings or damage to the instrument.

5. Manteniment

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your Mitutoyo Dial Bore Gage.
