For optimal safety, install smoke detectors on every level of your home, inside each bedroom, and in the hallway outside of sleeping areas. Avoid placing detectors in kitchens, bathrooms, or garages where cooking fumes, steam, or vehicle exhaust could cause nuisance alarms.

2. Instal·lació de la bateria

The Kidde i9050 smoke detector operates on a single 9-volt battery, which is included. Ensure the battery is properly inserted before mounting the unit.

1. Twist the alarm counter-clockwise from the mounting bracket to remove it.
2. Open the battery compartment door located on the back of the alarm.
3. Connect the 9-volt battery to the battery clip, ensuring correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
4. Place the battery into the compartment and close the door securely.
5. The alarm may chirp briefly upon battery insertion, indicating it is receiving power.

3. Mounting the Alarm

The alarm comes with a mounting bracket for easy installation on a wall or ceiling. No complex wiring is required.

1. Select a suitable mounting location, ensuring it is away from air vents, windows, or doors that could interfere with smoke detection.
2. Hold the mounting bracket against the wall or ceiling at your chosen location and mark the two mounting holes.
3. Drill two holes at the marked spots. Insert the plastic anchor plugs (if needed for drywall) into the drilled holes.

Once installed with a fresh battery, the smoke detector is continuously monitoring for smoke. A solid green LED light indicates that the alarm is receiving power and functioning correctly.

If smoke or fire is detected, the alarm will sound a loud 85-decibel horn, and a red LED light will flash rapidly. This indicates an emergency and requires immediate attention.

Botó Prova/Silenci

The large button on the front of the alarm serves two functions:

• Prova: Press and hold the button to test the alarm's electronic circuitry, horn, and battery functions. The alarm should sound loudly. Release the button to stop the test. This should be done weekly.
• Hushing Nuisance Alarms: If the alarm sounds due to cooking fumes or shower steam, press the button to temporarily silence the alarm for approximately 10 minutes. The red LED will flash every 10 seconds during the hush period. The alarm will automatically reset after this period if the smoke condition has cleared.

It is crucial to test your smoke alarm weekly to ensure it is functioning correctly. Press and hold the Test/Hush button until the alarm sounds. If the alarm does not sound, replace the battery immediately or consult the troubleshooting section.

The smoke detector will emit a short chirp approximately once every minute when the 9-volt battery is low and needs to be replaced. Replace the battery immediately upon hearing this chirp.

1. Twist the alarm counter-clockwise from the mounting bracket to remove it.

• Re-attach the alarm to the mounting bracket after cleaning.
