1. Introducció

The Plustek OpticFilm 135i is an advanced automatic film and slide scanner designed to digitize your precious 35mm film and slide collections with exceptional clarity and detail. This manual provides comprehensive instructions for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting your OpticFilm 135i scanner.

2. Configuració

2.1 Desembalatge i contingut

Carefully unpack all components from the box. Ensure all items are present before proceeding with installation.

2.2 Instal·lació del programari

Before connecting the scanner to your computer, install the necessary software. The OpticFilm 135i supports both Windows and Mac operating systems.

1. Insert the provided software CD into your computer's optical drive. If your computer does not have an optical drive, download the latest software and drivers from the official Plustek weblloc.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of the QuickScan Plus software and scanner drivers.

2.3 Connexió de maquinari

Once the software is installed, connect the scanner to your computer.

1. Connect the USB cable to the scanner's USB port and to an available USB port on your computer.
2. Connect the power adapter to the scanner's power input and then plug it into a power outlet.
3. Press the Power button on the scanner. The indicator light should illuminate, indicating the scanner is ready.

3.1 Loading Film and Slides

The OpticFilm 135i uses specific holders for different film types. Ensure you use the correct holder and load your media properly.

• For 35mm Mounted Slides: Use the 35mm Mounted Slide Holder. Insert up to four mounted slides into the designated slots.
• For 35mm Filmstrips: Use the 35mm Filmstrip Holder. Open the holder, place your filmstrip (up to six frames) flat within the guides, and close the holder securely.
• For Panoramic or Half-Frame Film: An optional panoramic film holder is available for these specific sizes (up to 226mm in width).

Once loaded, gently insert the film holder into the scanner's front slot until it engages. The scanner will automatically pull the holder in.

3.2 Scanning Process with QuickScan Plus

Launch the QuickScan Plus software on your computer. The software provides an intuitive interface for scanning and managing your images.

3. Inicia l'escaneig: Click the "Scan" button in the software or press the corresponding button on the scanner (Positive, Negative, Custom). The scanner will automatically feed the film holder and begin scanning.

6. Review i Edita: After scanning, images will appear in the software's preview window. You can perform basic edits such as auto exposure, white balance, cropping, and applying effects.

7. Save and Export: Save your scanned images to your desired location. The software also supports direct export to third-party image editing software like Adobe Photoshop or GIMP for further post-processing.

4. Manteniment

• Cleaning the Film Holders: Periodically clean the film holders with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove any dust or debris that could affect scan quality.
• Neteja del vidre de l'escàner: If you notice streaks or spots on your scans, the scanner's internal glass surface may need cleaning. Refer to the detailed user guide for instructions on how to safely access and clean the glass. Use a specialized lens cleaning solution and a microfiber cloth.
• Actualitzacions de programari: Regularly check for and install software and driver updates from the Plustek website to ensure compatibility and access to the latest features and improvements.
• Emmagatzematge: When not in use, store the scanner in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

5. Solució De Problemes

• Escàner no detectat:

  • Clean the film holders and the scanner's internal glass surface as described in the Maintenance section.
• Film Holder Not Feeding:
  • Ensure the film holder is inserted correctly and gently into the scanner's slot until it engages. Do not force it.
  • Check for any obstructions in the film holder slot.
  • Restart the scanner and the QuickScan Plus software.
• Software Crashing/Freezing:
  • Ensure your computer meets the minimum system requirements (e.g., Windows 7 or later).
  • Close other demanding applications running in the background.
  • Update QuickScan Plus to the latest version.
  • If issues persist, try reinstalling the software.
• Scans are Too Dark/Light or Color Issues:
  • Adjust exposure and color balance settings within QuickScan Plus before scanning.
  • Ensure you have selected the correct film type (Positive/Negative) in the software.
  • For severely faded film, advanced editing in third-party software may be required.
