Configuració
1. Connexió d'alimentació
Connect the supplied AC power cable to the power inlet on the rear panel of the DS201. Ensure the unit is connected to an AC power source within the specified voltagrang e (AC100V-115V).
2. Connexions d'àudio
- Entrada: Connect your audio source (e.g., microphone preamplifier, mixer output) to the balanced XLR input connectors on the rear panel. The maximum input level is 21dBu.
- Sortida: Connect the balanced XLR output connectors to your next audio device (e.g., mixer input, amplifier). The maximum output level is 21dBu.
- Key Input: For external keying, connect an external trigger signal to the 1/4" Key Input jacks. This allows the gate to be triggered by a separate audio source.
3. Stereo Linking
The DS201 supports stereo linking for dual-channel operation. Refer to the detailed diagram on the rear panel for proper stereo link connections if required.
Instruccions de funcionament
Controls del panell frontal
- KEY SOURCE: Selects the source for the gate's trigger. Options include internal audio or external key input.
- L.F. KEY FILTER - H.F.: These controls adjust the low-pass and high-pass filters for the key signal. This allows the gate to respond only to specific frequency ranges, preventing unwanted triggering from bleed or rumble.
- FUNCIÓ: Switches between GATING and DUCKING modes.
- GATING: The gate opens when the signal level exceeds the threshold and closes when it falls below.
- ANEGUANT: The signal level is reduced (ducked) when the key signal exceeds the threshold. Useful for BGM attenuation during narration.
- LLINDAR: Sets the level at which the gate will open (Gating) or close (Ducking).
- ATAQUE: Controls the time it takes for the gate to fully open once the signal crosses the threshold. A fast attack preserves transients.
- MANTENIR: Determines how long the gate remains open after the signal drops below the threshold, before the decay phase begins.
- DECAÏMENT: Controls the time it takes for the gate to fully close after the hold time has elapsed.
- GAMMA: Adjusts the amount of gain reduction applied when the gate is closed.
- SORTIDA: Controls the output level of the processed signal.
Basic Gating Operation
- Connect your audio source to the input and the output to your destination.
- Set the FUNCTION switch to GATING.
- Adjust the THRESHOLD control until the gate opens and closes cleanly around the desired signal, eliminating unwanted noise.
- Fine-tune ATTACK, HOLD, and DECAY to achieve a natural and smooth gating effect without cutting off desired signal tails or introducing clicks.
- Use the L.F. KEY FILTER and H.F. KEY FILTER to narrow the frequency range the gate responds to, preventing false triggers from other instruments or ambient noise.
Ducking Operation
- Connect the main audio (e.g., BGM) to the input and the narration/trigger signal to the Key Input.
- Set the FUNCTION switch to DUCKING.
- Adjust the THRESHOLD so that the BGM ducks when narration is present.
- Use ATTACK and DECAY to control the smoothness of the BGM's fade in and out.
Manteniment
The DRAWMER DS201 is designed for reliable operation with minimal maintenance. Keep the unit clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents. Ensure proper ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating.
Substitució de fusibles: If the unit fails to power on, check the fuse located on the rear panel. Replace only with a fuse of the same type and rating as indicated on the unit (e.g., FUSE TYPE: BS EN60127-2 20mm x 5mm). Refer to qualified personnel for internal servicing.
Resolució de problemes
- Sense energia:
- Comproveu si el cable d'alimentació està connectat correctament tant a la unitat com a la presa de corrent.
- Verifiqueu que la presa de corrent estigui activa.
- Check and replace the fuse if necessary (refer to Maintenance section).
- Sense sortida d'àudio:
- Ensure input and output cables are correctly connected.
- Check the THRESHOLD setting; if it's too high, the gate might remain closed.
- Verify the RANGE control is not set to maximum attenuation.
- Check the KEY SOURCE setting; if set to external key and no signal is present, the gate may not open.
- Gate Not Opening/Closing Properly:
- Adjust THRESHOLD, ATTACK, HOLD, and DECAY parameters.
- Check the L.F. KEY FILTER and H.F. KEY FILTER settings. If the filters are too narrow, the gate might not detect the desired signal.
- Ensure the input signal level is adequate.
- Unwanted Triggering/Bleed:
- Utilize the L.F. KEY FILTER and H.F. KEY FILTER to isolate the desired frequency range for triggering.
- Adjust the THRESHOLD to be above the level of unwanted bleed.
- Increase the RANGE setting to provide more attenuation when the gate is closed.
