Model: SON-3901

1. Introducció

This instruction manual provides comprehensive guidance for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your Vortex Optics Sonora 4-12x44 Second Focal Plane Riflescope. Designed for durability and optical clarity, this riflescope features a robust single-piece aircraft-grade aluminum tube, fully multi-coated lenses, and is nitrogen-purged and O-ring sealed for waterproof and fogproof performance. Please read this manual thoroughly before using your riflescope to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Objectiu de la lent: The front lens of the riflescope, responsible for gathering light.
  2. Windage Adjustment Knob: Used to adjust the reticle horizontally (left/right).
  3. Elevation Adjustment Knob: Used to adjust the reticle vertically (up/down).
  4. Anell d'ajust d'augment: Rotates to change the magnification level (4x to 12x).
  5. Diopter Lock Ring: Locks the diopter setting once adjusted for your eye.
  6. Reticle Focus: Adjusts the sharpness of the reticle.

3. Configuració

3.1 Muntatge de la mira telescòpica

Proper mounting is crucial for accuracy and safe operation. Ensure the riflescope is securely mounted to your rifle using appropriate rings and bases (not included). Position the riflescope to achieve optimal eye relief, typically around 4 inches for the Sonora model, to prevent injury from recoil and ensure a full field of view.

3.2 Focusing the Reticle

To achieve a sharp reticle image:

  1. Point the riflescope at a plain, bright background (like a wall or sky).
  2. Loosen the diopter lock ring.
  3. Look through the eyepiece and quickly turn the reticle focus until the reticle appears sharp. Avoid staring at the reticle for too long, as your eye will naturally compensate for any blur.
  4. Once the reticle is sharp, tighten the diopter lock ring to secure the setting.

3.3 Ajust de l'ampliació

The magnification adjustment ring is located on the eyepiece housing. Rotate this ring to select your desired magnification level between 4x and 12x. The ring features knurled aluminum for a secure grip and numerical values for easy reference.

4. Funcionament

4.1 Ajustos de vent i elevació

The Sonora riflescope features tool-free windage and elevation adjustment knobs. Each click of the adjustment knobs moves the point of impact by 1/4 MOA (Minute of Angle). The total adjustment range for both windage and elevation is 60 MOA.

To adjust: Remove the protective caps from the knobs. Turn the knobs in the indicated direction (U for Up, D for Down, L for Left, R for Right) to move your point of impact. After making adjustments, you can reset the zero by removing the set screw on top of the turret and realigning the turret to '0'. Replace the protective caps when finished.

4.2 Dead-Hold BDC (MOA) Reticle

The Dead-Hold BDC reticle is designed to assist with bullet drop compensation at varying ranges. It features hash marks on the vertical stadia for holdover and on the horizontal stadia for wind drift compensation. While the BDC reticle is versatile, its generic design means specific bullet drop values will vary depending on your firearm, ammunition, and environmental conditions. It is recommended to confirm your specific holdover points through practice at various distances.

5. Manteniment

5.1 Neteja

Keep your riflescope clean to ensure clear optics and proper function. Use the provided lens cloth to gently wipe away dust and debris from the lenses. For stubborn smudges or fingerprints, use a lens cleaning solution and a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the lens coatings or finish.

5.2 Emmagatzematge

When not in use, store the riflescope in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the tethered lens covers to protect the objective and eyepiece lenses from dust and scratches.

6. Solució De Problemes

  • Imatge borrosa: Ensure the reticle is properly focused (Section 3.2). Check if the objective lens or eyepiece is dirty and clean as per Section 5.1.
  • Reticle Not Focusing: If the reticle remains blurry after adjusting the reticle focus, ensure the diopter lock ring is not overtightened or damaged.
  • Adjustments Not Tracking: Verify that the adjustment knobs are turning freely and that the rifle scope is securely mounted. If issues persist, contact customer support.
  • Boira: The riflescope is nitrogen-purged and O-ring sealed to prevent internal fogging. If internal fogging occurs, it may indicate a seal compromise.
