ATO VFD Drive User Manual

1. Introducció

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation of your ATO Single Phase Variable Frequency Drive. This VFD is specifically designed for single-phase AC motors, offering precise speed control and enhanced performance for various applications.

The ATO 1/2 HP 0.4KW VFD features a single-phase 220V input and output, with an output frequency range of 0-500Hz. Its flexible design allows for accurate speed control, improved torque response, and stable low-frequency output, making it ideal for controlling fans, pumps, mixers, extruders, slitters, winders, and power tools.

• Read the manual and follow all safety instructions before operation.
• Do not remove the cover while power is applied.
• Wait for 10 minutes after disconnecting power supply to open the cover.
• Do not connect power to output terminals.
• Must securely ground (earth) the inverter.

Notes importants:

• A single-phase motor should not be adjusted to run below 80% of its rated frequency for extended periods, as this may cause motor failure.
• The ATO VFD cannot be used as a power source; it must be directly connected to an induction motor to control its speed.
• This single-phase VFD cannot control the motor in reverse. Refer to your motor's nameplate instructions for reverse operation if needed.

4. Configuració i instal·lació

Proper wiring is crucial for the safe and correct operation of the VFD. Always ensure power is disconnected before making any connections.

• Entrada d'alimentació principal: AC 220V ±15%, single-phase (L1, L2).
• Sortida del motor:
  • For 3-phase motors, connect U, V, W.
  • For single-phase motors, connect U and V only; leave W unconnected.

Braking Resistor Connection:

If you intend to use a braking resistor, it is critical to connect it between the P+ i PB terminals only. Incorrect wiring of the braking resistor may cause severe damage to the VFD control board. Do not use other terminals for this connection. P+ and PB are the dedicated terminals for braking resistor wiring.

5. Instruccions de funcionament

The ATO VFD supports programming, allowing you to customize parameters such as acceleration/deceleration time, frequency settings, and motor protection to suit your specific application needs.

Familiarize yourself with the control panel buttons and the LCD display for effective operation and parameter adjustment. The panel speed control knob allows for manual frequency adjustment.

6. Manteniment

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your VFD, regular maintenance is recommended:

• Keep the VFD clean and free from dust and debris. Ensure ventilation openings are clear.
• Comproveu periòdicament totes les connexions elèctriques per comprovar si estan ben ajustades i si hi ha signes de desgast o corrosió.
• Assegureu-vos que l'entorn de funcionament estigui dins dels rangs de temperatura i humitat especificats.
• Inspect the cooling fan for proper operation and clean any accumulated dust.

7. Solució De Problemes

If you encounter issues with your VFD, consider the following common points:

• Compatibilitat del motor: Ensure the VFD's rated current and power are greater than your motor's. It is recommended that the VFD capacity be 20%-30% larger than the motor's capacity to account for potential overload during operation. If your motor is 5HP, a 7.5HP VFD or higher is recommended. For a 2HP motor, a 3HP VFD is more reliable.
• Braking Resistor Wiring: Double-check that any braking resistor is connected correctly between the P+ and PB terminals. Incorrect wiring can cause serious damage.
• No Output/Display Issues: Verify all power connections are secure and the input voltage is within the specified range (AC 220V ±15%).
• Motor Not Reversing: Remember that this single-phase VFD cannot control the motor in reverse. Refer to your motor's specific instructions for reverse operation.

If you are unsure about the appropriate VFD size for your motor or have any other technical issues, please provide a photo of your motor nameplate, details of your input power supply, and your specific requirements to ATO customer support for assistance.
