1. Introducció

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your JOYING Universal Steering Wheel Control (Model JY-SWC4). This device is designed to provide convenient control over your Android car stereo, DVD player, or GPS navigation system directly from your steering wheel, enhancing driving safety and user experience. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use.

4. Configuració i instal·lació

4.1. Instal·lació de la bateria

The Controller Key requires one CR2032 button battery (3V). The battery is not included in the package and must be purchased separately.

1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the Controller Key.
2. Carefully open the compartment.

4.2. Connexió del cablejat

Connect the Receiver Box to your Android car stereo system as follows:

• Fil vermell: Connect to the ACC (Accessory) wire of your car stereo. This provides power when the ignition is on.
• Fil negre: Connect to the GND (Ground) wire of your car stereo.
• Filferro blanc: Connect to the KEY (or SWC Key1) wire of your Android car stereo. This wire transmits the control signals.

Important Note for JOYING Radios: If you are using a JOYING radio, you will need to connect the KEY wire from the receiver to the KEY + CAN OUT wires on the back of the radio.

4.3. Mounting on Steering Wheel

The Controller Key features a watch-band style strap for easy attachment to your steering wheel.

1. Position the Controller Key on your steering wheel at a location that is comfortable and does not obstruct your driving or airbag deployment.
2. Secure the strap around the steering wheel, ensuring it is tight enough to prevent movement during driving but not overly constricted.
3. Adjust the angle of the controller to ensure easy access to all buttons. Consider angling it slightly inward to prevent accidental activation during sharp turns.

5. Funcionament

5.1. Funcions del botó

The Controller Key features multiple buttons and a rotary dial, all of which can be customized. The default functions typically include:

• Marcador rotatiu: Turn clockwise for Volume Up (VOL+), counter-clockwise for Volume Down (VOL-).
• Forward/Backward Arrows: Next Track / Previous Track.
• Phone Icons: Answer Call / End Call.
• Botó central: Mute / Voice Assistant (customizable).

5.2. Learning Function (Programming)

To enable the steering wheel control functions, you must program the buttons through your Android car stereo's settings. The exact steps may vary slightly depending on your stereo model, but generally follow this procedure:

1. Ensure the Receiver Box is correctly wired to your car stereo's KEY wire (and CAN OUT for JOYING radios).
2. Turn on your car stereo.
3. Navigate to the stereo's settings menu. Look for options such as "Steering Wheel Control," "SWC Learning," or "Key Learning." For JOYING radios, this is typically found under Settings > Common > Key to learn > SteeringWheel keys learn. The factory settings PIN is often 3368.
4. Enter the learning mode. The stereo display will prompt you to press a function on the screen (e.g., "Volume Up") and then press the corresponding button on your JOYING Controller Key.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to assign each desired function (Volume Up, Volume Down, Next Track, Previous Track, Answer Call, End Call, Mute, etc.) to its respective button on the Controller Key.
6. Save the settings once all buttons are programmed.

The Controller Key will enter standby mode when there is no activity for 1 minute to conserve power, and will quickly power back up once any key is pressed.

6. Manteniment

• Substitució de la bateria: Replace the CR2032 battery when the control becomes unresponsive or erratic. Refer to Section 4.1 for battery installation.
• Neteja: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the Controller Key and Receiver Box. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
• Emmagatzematge: If not in use for an extended period, remove the battery from the Controller Key to prevent leakage.

7. Solució De Problemes

• Controller is unresponsive:
  • Check if the CR2032 battery is installed correctly and has sufficient charge. Replace if necessary.
  • Ensure the Receiver Box is properly connected to the car stereo (ACC, GND, KEY wires).
  • Verify that the buttons have been programmed correctly through the car stereo's learning function (refer to Section 5.2).
• Buttons work erratically or require multiple presses:
  • This could indicate a low battery. Replace the CR2032 battery.
  • Ensure there are no obstructions between the Controller Key and the Receiver Box.
  • Re-program the buttons through the car stereo's learning function.
• Controller does not work with my head unit:
  • This SWC4 unit is not compatible with head units that require a Canbus decoder for steering wheel controls. Verify your head unit's requirements.
  • Some head units may require an additional interface module (e.g., Axxess ASWC-1) to interpret the resistance-based output of this control. Consult your head unit's manual or manufacturer for compatibility.
• Accidental button presses during steering:
  • Adjust the mounting position and angle of the Controller Key on the steering wheel to minimize accidental contact during turns.
