The Thule Outway Trunk Mount Bike Rack is a premium carrier designed for secure and convenient transportation of bicycles on the rear of your vehicle. It features a robust attachment system and is compatible with a wide range of vehicles, including those with a spoiler.

2. Attach Base Pads

The rack comes with two sets of mounting pads designed for different vehicle types (sedans, station wagons, CUVs, and SUVs). Select the appropriate pads for your vehicle's trunk or hatch. Securely attach the base pads to the lower support points of the rack.

3. Position the Rack

Carefully position the rack on your vehicle's trunk or hatch. Ensure the lower support arms rest firmly on the vehicle's bumper or lower edge. The upper support arms should rest on the top edge of the trunk/hatch.

4. Secure the Cables and Straps

The rack utilizes robust steel cables and a twin hook attachment system for a secure fit. Attach the upper cables to the top edge of the trunk/hatch and the lower cables to the bottom edge. For vehicles with spoilers, use the provided spoiler reinforcement straps to distribute the load effectively.

5. Tighten the Rack

Use the torque limiting knobs to optimally tighten the rack to your vehicle. These knobs will click when the correct tension is achieved, ensuring a secure fit without overtightening.

2. Securing Bicycles

Utilize the anti-sway system to prevent bike-to-bike and bike-to-vehicle contact, protecting both your bikes and your car. The soft cradles absorb road shock and vibrations, further safeguarding the bike frame.

4. Storage and Access

When not in use, the bike arms fold flat for easy transport and convenient storage. The design also allows the trunk to be opened even when bikes are not mounted on the rack.
