The Aeotec SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor is a versatile Zigbee device designed for comprehensive home monitoring. It integrates multiple sensing capabilities into a single compact unit, providing real-time data for enhanced home automation and security.

This sensor offers:

Configuració i instal·lació

Follow these steps to set up and install your Aeotec Multipurpose Sensor:

1. Instal·lació de la bateria

The sensor comes with one CR2 battery included. To install or replace the battery:

1. Gently separate the two halves of the sensor.

2. Pairing with a Hub

The sensor requires a compatible Zigbee hub for full functionality. It is best used with the SmartThings App and an Aeotec Smart Home Hub / Samsung SmartThings Hub, or other compatible devices with SmartThings Hub functionality. It also works with other compatible Zigbee hubs.

2. Open the SmartThings app (or your preferred hub's app) and select the option to add a new device.

4. Once detected, name your sensor and assign it to a room or location within your smart home system.

3. Muntatge del sensor

The sensor can be mounted using the included adhesive strips. For optimal performance, consider the following:

• For Door/Window Monitoring: Attach the main sensor unit to the door/window frame and the smaller magnetic component to the moving part of the door/window. Ensure they are aligned and within 1 inch (2.5 cm) of each other when the door/window is closed.
• For Vibration/Temperature Monitoring: Place the sensor on the surface of the appliance or in the area you wish to monitor.

Funcionament del sensor

Once installed and paired, the Aeotec Multipurpose Sensor will automatically begin reporting data to your connected hub. You can configure automations and receive notifications based on the sensor's readings.

• Open/Close Alerts: Receive instant phone alerts if a monitored door, window, cabinet, or drawer opens unexpectedly. This can be configured within your SmartThings app or other compatible smart home platform.
• Vibration Detection: Utilize the vibration sensor to detect activity on appliances like washing machines or dryers, or to monitor for tamperrant.
• Monitorització de la temperatura: View the current temperature of the sensor's location within your smart home app. This data can be used for climate control automations.
• Orientation/Tilt: Advanced users can leverage orientation and tilt data for specific automation scenarios, such as detecting if an object has been moved or knocked over.

The sensor is compatible with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings, and other devices utilizing Zigbee communication protocols, allowing for integration into various smart home ecosystems.

Manteniment

The primary maintenance for your Multipurpose Sensor involves battery replacement. The sensor uses one CR2 battery. When the battery level is low, your smart home app will typically send a notification. Replace the battery as described in the "Battery Installation" section of this manual.

Keep the sensor clean by wiping it with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.

• Sensor Not Connecting/Offline:
  • Ensure the sensor is within range of your Zigbee hub.
  • Check the battery level. Replace the battery if it is low or depleted.
  • Try re-pairing the sensor with your hub.
  • Verify that your hub's firmware is up to date.
• Inaccurate Open/Close Readings:
  • Ensure the main sensor unit and the magnetic component are properly aligned and close enough (within 1 inch) when the door/window is closed.
  • Clean the sensor surfaces to ensure no debris is interfering with the magnetic contact.

  • Ensure the sensor is not in an area with constant minor vibrations if not intended for that purpose.
