TAMIYA Lacquer Paint LP-23 Flat Clear is specifically formulated to provide a non-glossy, matte finish over painted surfaces. It is ideal for model kits where a realistic, non-reflective appearance is desired. This 10ml bottle contains a high-quality lacquer that dries quickly and offers excellent durability.
Configuració
- Preparació de la superfície: Ensure the surface to be painted is clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, or fingerprints. For best results, apply over a fully cured base coat.
- Paint Preparation: Shake the bottle thoroughly for several minutes until the contents are uniformly mixed. The flattening agent can settle at the bottom, so proper mixing is crucial for a consistent matte finish.
- Aprimament: Lacquer paints typically require thinning for airbrush application. Use TAMIYA Lacquer Thinner (or compatible lacquer thinner) at a ratio of approximately 1 part paint to 1-2 parts thinner. Adjust the ratio based on your airbrush and desired flow. For brush painting, minimal or no thinning may be required, depending on consistency.
- Eines: Prepare your chosen application tools, such as an airbrush or fine-tipped brush, ensuring they are clean and in good working order.
Operating (Application)
- Airbrush Application:
- Set your airbrush pressure to a suitable level, typically between 15-25 psi (1.0-1.7 bar).
- Apply the thinned paint in light, even coats. Avoid applying too much paint at once to prevent pooling or an overly thick finish.
- Allow each coat to dry to the touch (usually 5-10 minutes) before applying the next.
- Apply 2-3 thin coats for optimal coverage and a consistent matte effect.
- Aplicació amb pinzell:
- Use a high-quality brush suitable for lacquer paints.
- Apply thin, even coats. Brush strokes may be visible if applied too thickly.
- Allow sufficient drying time between coats.
- Drying and Curing:
- The paint will be touch-dry in approximately 10-20 minutes, depending on humidity and temperature.
- Allow at least 24 hours for the paint to fully cure before handling extensively or applying additional layers (e.g., weathering). Full hardness may take several days.
Manteniment
- Neteja d'eines: Immediately after use, clean your airbrush and brushes thoroughly with TAMIYA Lacquer Thinner or a dedicated airbrush cleaner compatible with lacquer paints. Do not allow paint to dry in your tools.
- Spill Cleanup: Clean up any spills immediately using a cloth dampened with lacquer thinner.
Resolució de problemes
- Uneven Matte Finish: This often occurs if the paint was not shaken sufficiently, leading to uneven distribution of the flattening agent. Ensure thorough mixing before each use. Applying too thick coats can also lead to an inconsistent finish.
- Orange Peel Effect: This can be caused by applying paint that is too thick, insufficient thinning, or spraying from too far a distance. Adjust thinning ratio and application technique.
- Frosting/Whitening: High humidity during application can sometimes cause a white, frosty appearance. Ensure a dry environment or use a lacquer retarder if working in humid conditions.
- Not Flat Enough: If the finish is not as matte as desired, ensure the paint was thoroughly mixed. You may need to apply an additional thin coat.
Emmagatzematge
