1. Introducció
The deleyCON Network Cable Tester MK5196 is designed to verify the integrity of ISDN and LAN patch cable connections. This versatile tool supports RJ11, RJ12, and RJ45 network connections, making it suitable for various cable types including CAT5, CAT6, CAT7, and CAT8.
It features a remote unit with an integrated LED display for 8 individual wires, allowing for comprehensive testing of cable circuits. The tester examines cables for continuity, short circuits, wire exchange, and other common cable faults.

2. Característiques del producte
- Cable tester for RJ11, RJ12, and RJ45 connections.
- Compatible with LAN network patch cables such as CAT5, CAT6, CAT7, and CAT8.
- Remote unit with integrated LED display for 8 individual wires.
- Test LEDs to verify the cable circuit.
- Examines cables for continuity, short circuits, wire exchange, and cable faults.
3. Configuració
3.1 Instal·lació de la bateria
The deleyCON Network Cable Tester requires a 9V battery for operation (not included). To install the battery:
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the master unit.
- Obriu la tapa del compartiment de la bateria.
- Insert a 9V battery, ensuring correct polarity.
- Tanqueu bé la tapa del compartiment de la bateria.
3.2 Separating and Connecting Units
The tester consists of a master unit and a detachable remote unit. For testing installed cables, the remote unit can be separated from the master unit.

Imatge 3.1: Illustration showing how to separate the remote unit from the master unit by sliding it apart. The remote unit can be reattached for storage or when testing shorter cables.
3.3 Cables de connexió
Connect the cable to be tested to the appropriate ports on both the master and remote units. The tester supports RJ11, RJ12, and RJ45 connectors.
- For RJ45 cables, use the RJ45 ports on both units.
- For RJ11/RJ12 cables, use the RJ11 ports on both units.

Imatge 3.2: This image demonstrates the connection points for both RJ11 and RJ45 cables on the deleyCON cable tester. The master unit has two RJ45 ports and one RJ11 port, while the remote unit has one RJ45 and one RJ11 port. Cables are inserted into the corresponding ports for testing.
4. Instruccions de funcionament
4.1 Powering On and Test Modes
Once the battery is installed and the cable is connected, you can begin testing.
- Locate the power switch on the master unit.
- Slide the switch to the 'ON' position for a quick test, or to the 'S' position for a slower, more detailed test.
- The LEDs on both the master and remote units will illuminate sequentially, indicating the status of each wire.

Imatge 4.1: The deleyCON cable tester connected to a network cable, illustrating the 'ON' position for a quick test and the 'S' position for a slow test. The LEDs on both the master and remote units are shown indicating a successful connection for wire 1, 2, 3, and 4.
4.2 Interpreting LED Indicators
The LEDs on both the master and remote units correspond to the individual wires within the cable. Observe the sequence and status of the LEDs to identify cable faults:
- Sequential Illumination: If all LEDs (1-8 and G for ground) on both units light up in the same sequential order, the cable is correctly wired and has continuity.
- Missing LED: If an LED on either unit does not light up, it indicates an open circuit or a broken wire.
- Incorrect Sequence: If the LEDs light up in a different order on the remote unit compared to the master unit, it indicates a wire exchange (crossed wires).
- Multiple LEDs Simultaneously: If multiple LEDs light up at the same time when only one should, it suggests a short circuit between those wires.
5. Manteniment
- Neteja: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the tester. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Emmagatzematge: Store the tester in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Bateria: Remove the 9V battery if the tester will not be used for an extended period to prevent battery leakage.
6. Solució De Problemes
- Tester does not power on: Check if the 9V battery is correctly installed and has sufficient charge. Replace the battery if necessary.
- No s'encenen els LED: Ensure the cable is securely connected to both the master and remote units. Verify the battery is functional.
- Inconsistent LED readings: Re-seat the cable connectors firmly into the ports. Ensure the cable itself is not damaged at the connectors.
- Remote unit LEDs do not match master unit: This indicates a wiring fault (e.g., open circuit, short circuit, or crossed wires) within the cable being tested. Refer to section 4.2 for interpretation.
