1. Introducció

3. Informació de seguretat

  • Always turn off the water supply to the toilet before beginning any repair or installation.
  • Flush the toilet to empty the tank before disassembling any components.

4. Instruccions d'instal·lació

Follow these steps to install your Fluidmaster K-400H-021-P8 Toilet Repair Kit:

Step 1: Prepare the Toilet Tank

  1. Tanqueu el subministrament d'aigua del vàter a la vàlvula de tancament situada a prop de la base del vàter.
  2. Flush the toilet to drain the water from the tank. Hold the flush lever down until the tank is empty.
  3. Use a sponge or towel to remove any remaining water from the tank.

Step 2: Remove Old Components

  1. Disconnect the water supply line from the bottom of the fill valve.
  2. Remove the old fill valve locknut from underneath the tank using the green tool provided in the kit.
  3. Remove the old fill valve and flush valve from inside the tank.
  4. Remove the tank-to-bowl bolts and nuts.
  5. Carefully lift the toilet tank off the bowl and place it on a soft surface (e.g., a towel) to avoid damage.
  6. Remove the old tank-to-bowl gasket and flush valve locknut from the bottom of the tank using the red wrench provided.

Step 3: Install New Flush Valve

  1. Remove the cardboard from under the flapper of the new flush valve.
  2. Remove the gasket, locknut, and friction washer from the new flush valve, keeping them for later installation.
  3. Insert the new flush valve into the tank hole from the inside of the tank, ensuring the overflow pipe faces the back of the tank. Do not cover tank bolt holes with the flush valve.
  4. From underneath the tank, place the friction washer, then the locknut onto the flush valve. Hand-tighten the locknut.
  5. Use the red wrench to tighten the locknut an additional 1/2 turn beyond hand-tight. NO PRETENIR EXcés.
  6. Adjust the height of the flush valve by twisting and pulling/pushing the overflow pipe until the top of the overflow pipe is at least 1 inch below the bottom of the tank lever hole.

Step 4: Install Tank-to-Bowl Gasket System

  1. Identify your toilet brand to select the correct gasket.
    • For Gerber® toilets, use the black gasket with tabs.
    • For Kohler® toilets, use the black gasket with three arms.
    • For all other brands, use the red gasket.
  2. Install the appropriate tank-to-bowl gasket onto the bottom of the flush valve, fully covering the locknut.
  3. Place the toilet tank back onto the toilet bowl, aligning the bolt holes.

Pas 5: fixeu el dipòsit al bol

  1. Insert the new tank-to-bowl bolts with rubber washers from inside the tank through the bolt holes.
  2. From underneath the toilet bowl, place the metal washers and then the locknuts onto the bolts.
  3. Hand-tighten the locknuts clockwise (reverse thread). NO PRETENIR EXcés.
  4. Use the green tool to tighten the locknuts an additional 1/4 turn beyond hand-tight. NO PRETENIR EXcés.

Step 6: Adjust Height of New Fill Valve

  1. Twist the fill valve to adjust its height. Increasing the height allows more water to fill the tank. Do not move the lock ring.
  2. Ensure the top of the fill valve cap is approximately 3 inches from the top of the overflow pipe.

Pas 7: instal·leu la nova vàlvula d'ompliment

  1. Insert the new fill valve into the tank hole from the inside of the tank. Position the refill tube to face the flush valve.
  2. Ensure the float cup does not touch the tank walls or the tank lever and flush valve.
  3. From underneath the tank, place the fill valve locknut onto the fill valve shank. Hand-tighten only. NO PRETENIR EXcés.
  4. Use the green tool to tighten the locknut an additional 1/4 turn beyond hand-tight. NO PRETENIR EXcés. Overtightening may crack the fill valve or tank, causing flooding.
  5. Connect the refill tube to the fill valve and clip it to the top of the overflow pipe.

Step 8: Install Lever & Flapper Chain

  1. If the removed tank lever is bent, proceed to Step 8a. If the lever is not bent, proceed to Step 8b.
    • 8a. For Side or Angle Mount: Bend the new lever arm. To bend the lever, start bending 2 inches after the 90-degree elbow until the bend matches the old lever. Do not bend the arm quickly or back and forth repeatedly.
    • 8b. For Front Mount: Measure the length of the old lever arm next to the new lever arm. If necessary, trim the new lever arm at the cut line.
  2. Install the new tank lever through the tank hole. Hand-tighten the locknut clockwise (reverse thread). NO PRETENIR EXcés.
  3. Connect the flapper chain to the tank lever. Leave roughly 1/2 inch of slack (a small "J" shape) in the chain.

Pas 9: Passos d'acabat

  1. Attach the water supply connector to the fill valve. Hand-tighten only. NO PRETENIR EXcés.
  2. Turn on the water supply to the toilet. Check for leaks.
  3. Mark the water level in the bowl with a pencil mark (pencil mark will easily wash off).
  4. Flush the toilet to check the bowl water level. If the water level matches the line you've made in the bowl when the fill valve stops filling the tank, the water level is correct.
  5. Adjust the bowl water level if necessary. Flush and repeat until the water level in the bowl matches the line when the fill valve shuts off.

5. Funcionament

Once installed, your Fluidmaster K-400H-021-P8 kit will ensure efficient toilet operation. The PerforMAX fill valve quickly refills the tank, and the adjustable flush valve allows for optimal water usage.

  • Rentat: Press the tank lever down to initiate a flush. The flapper will open, allowing water to flow from the tank into the bowl.
  • Recàrrega: After flushing, the fill valve will automatically refill the tank to the preset water level.
  • Ajust del nivell d'aigua: The fill valve features a water level adjustment screw. Turn the screw clockwise to increase the water level in the tank or counter-clockwise to decrease it.
  • Bowl Water Level Adjustment: The fill valve also has a separate adjustment for the bowl water level, allowing you to fine-tune the amount of water for a powerful flush.

6. Manteniment

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your toilet repair kit:

  • Neteja: Periodically clean the toilet tank and its components to prevent mineral buildup and ensure smooth operation. Use non-abrasive cleaners.
  • Flapper Inspection: Check the flapper periodically for wear or damage. A worn flapper can cause leaks. Replace if necessary.
  • Fill Valve Inspection: Ensure the fill valve is free from obstructions and operating correctly. If the fill valve continuously runs or fails to fill the tank, it may need inspection or replacement of internal components.
