1. Introducció
This user manual provides essential information for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of your Kidde Nighthawk Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Carbon Monoxide & Explosive Gas Detectors. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device and retain it for future reference. These detectors are designed to provide early warning of CO gas and, for model 900-0113, also natural gas and propane, helping to protect you and your family.
2. Informació important de seguretat
WARNING: Carbon Monoxide is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that can be fatal. This detector is designed to detect carbon monoxide gas from any source of combustion. It is not designed to detect smoke or fire.
The Kidde Nighthawk Carbon Monoxide & Explosive Gas Detector (Model 900-0113) is also designed to detect natural gas (methane) and propane. These gases are highly flammable and explosive.
- Never ignore any alarm. Investigating the cause and taking appropriate action is crucial.
- Do not paint over the detector. Paint can clog the sensing vents and interfere with proper operation.
- Do not use cleaning solvents or harsh chemicals on the detector.
- Test your detector weekly to ensure proper function.
3. Producte acabatview
Your Kidde Nighthawk detectors are AC-powered units with a 9-volt battery backup, ensuring continuous protection even during power outages. They feature a digital display for easy monitoring of CO levels or gas presence.
3.1 Kidde Nighthawk Carbon Monoxide Detector (Model KN-COPP-3)

This model is specifically designed to detect Carbon Monoxide (CO) gas. It provides a digital readout of CO concentration in parts per million (PPM) and sounds an audible alarm when CO levels are dangerous.
3.2 Kidde Nighthawk Carbon Monoxide & Explosive Gas Detector (Model 900-0113)

This advanced model detects both Carbon Monoxide (CO) and common explosive gases such as natural gas (methane) and propane. The digital display indicates CO levels or shows "GAS" when explosive gas is detected.
3.3 Common Features
- Pantalla digital: Shows CO concentration in PPM or indicates gas presence.
- AC Plug-in with Battery Backup: Plugs into a standard AC outlet and includes a 9V battery for power during outages.
- Botó de prova/restabliment: Allows for weekly testing of the alarm and resetting the unit after an alarm event.
- Peak Level Button: Displays the highest CO level recorded since the last reset.
- Electrochemical Sensor: Highly accurate sensing technology for CO detection.
- Metal Oxide Sensor: (Model 900-0113 only) For detecting natural gas and propane.
4. Configuració i instal·lació
Proper placement and installation are critical for the effective operation of your detector.
4.1 Selecció d'una ubicació
For optimal protection, install at least one CO detector on every level of your home and one near every sleeping area. For the CO & Explosive Gas Detector, consider areas where gas appliances are present.
- Fes: Place detectors at least 15 feet (4.5 meters) away from cooking or heating appliances to prevent false alarms.
- Fes: Install in a wall outlet, or use the included 6-foot power cord to place on a shelf or table.
- No: Place in direct sunlight, near vents, fans, or in areas with high humidity.
- No: Place behind curtains or furniture that could obstruct the sensor.

4.2 Instal·lació de la bateria
Each detector requires a 9V alkaline battery for backup power. The battery compartment is typically located on the back of the unit.
- Obriu la tapa del compartiment de la bateria.
- Connect the 9V battery to the battery clip.
- Col·loqueu la bateria al compartiment i tanqueu la tapa de manera segura.

4.3 Encès
Once the battery is installed, plug the detector into a standard 120VAC wall outlet. The unit will perform a self-test, and the digital display will illuminate.
5. Funcionament
5.1 Funcionament normal
During normal operation, a red dot will appear in the lower right corner of the digital display and will blink approximately every 15 seconds, indicating that the unit is functioning correctly and sensing for CO or gas.
5.2 Test/Reset Button
Press and hold the 'TEST-RESET' button to test the alarm. The unit will sound its alarm pattern, and the digital display will show a test sequence. Release the button to stop the test. This button also silences the alarm during an event or resets the peak CO level.
5.3 Peak Level Button
Press the 'PEAK LEVEL' button to view the highest CO concentration (in PPM) recorded by the alarm since it was last reset or unplugged. This feature is useful for monitoring potential CO exposure over time.
6. Alarm Indicators
Your detector provides distinct audible and visual warnings for different conditions.
6.1 Alarma de monòxid de carboni (CO).
- Audible: Four quick beeps, followed by five seconds of silence, then the beeps repeat.
- Visual: The digital display will show the detected CO concentration in parts per million (PPM).
Action: If the CO alarm sounds, immediately move to fresh air. Call 911 or your local emergency services. Do not re-enter the premises until it has been aired out and the source of CO has been identified and corrected.
6.2 Explosive Gas Alarm (Model 900-0113 only)
- Audible: One second of alarm on, one second of alarm off, repeating.
- Visual: The digital display will show "GAS".
Action: If the Gas alarm sounds, immediately evacuate the premises. Do not operate any electrical switches or phones. Call your gas supplier or fire department from a neighbor's phone. Do not re-enter until the gas leak is found and fixed.
6.3 Avís de bateria baixa
- Audible: One alarm chirp per minute.
- Visual: The digital display will show "Lb".
Action: Replace the 9V battery immediately. Refer to Section 7.2 for battery replacement instructions.
6.4 Smart Hush Feature
The Smart Hush feature temporarily silences the alarm for approximately 8 minutes. This feature is useful for nuisance alarms, but should only be used after you have confirmed there is no actual emergency. Press the 'TEST-RESET' button to activate Smart Hush.
7. Manteniment
Un manteniment regular garanteix la fiabilitat contínua del detector.
7.1 Proves setmanals
Test your detector weekly by pressing and holding the 'TEST-RESET' button until the alarm sounds. This confirms the unit's electronic circuitry, alarm, and battery are working.
7.2 Substitució de la bateria
Replace the 9V battery when the low battery warning sounds. Use only recommended alkaline batteries. Refer to Section 4.2 for battery installation steps.
7.3 Neteja del detector
Clean your detector regularly to prevent dust and debris from interfering with its operation. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use cleaning agents or spray directly onto the unit.
7.4 Unit Replacement
Carbon Monoxide alarms have a limited lifespan. It is recommended to replace CO alarms every 5 to 7 years to benefit from the latest technology and ensure optimal performance. The manufacturing date is typically located on the back of the unit.
8. Solució De Problemes
| Problema | Causa possible | Solució |
|---|---|---|
