4. Configuració

4.1 Sensor Suite Assembly and Placement

The sensor suite is the outdoor component that collects weather data. It includes an anemometer, rain collector, and a 24-hour fan-aspirated radiation shield housing temperature and humidity sensors. The integrated solar panel powers the sensor suite.

  1. Anemometer Installation: The anemometer measures wind speed and direction. It can be mounted up to 12 meters (40 feet) away from the rest of the sensor suite for optimal wind data collection, ensuring it is free from obstructions.
  2. Sensor Suite Mounting: Mount the main sensor suite in an open area, away from buildings, trees, and other obstructions that could affect readings. A sturdy pole or mast is recommended. Ensure the rain collector is level.
  3. Orientació del panell solar: Position the solar panel to receive maximum sunlight throughout the day for continuous power.

4.2 WeatherLink Console Setup

The WeatherLink Console displays all collected weather data and allows for configuration. It is powered by a Lithium Polymer battery (included) and can be placed indoors within the wireless range of the sensor suite.

  1. Encès: Insert the included Lithium Polymer battery into the console. The console will power on automatically.
  2. Configuració inicial: Follow the on-screen prompts to set your location, time zone, and preferred metric units.
  3. Sensor Suite Connection: The console will automatically search for and connect to the wireless sensor suite. Ensure the sensor suite is powered on and within the 300-meter (1000 feet) transmission range.
  4. Col·locació: Place the console in a convenient indoor location where you can easily view les dades.

5. Funcionament

Once set up, your Vantage Pro2 system will begin collecting and displaying weather data. The WeatherLink Console updates data every 2.5 seconds, providing near real-time information.

5.1 Console Display and Navigation

The WeatherLink Console features a clear display showing various weather parameters. Use the buttons on the console to navigate through different screens and view historical data, trends, and forecasts.

  • Condicions actuals: View live readings for temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, rainfall, barometric pressure, and more.
  • Dades històriques: Access daily, monthly, and yearly records for various parameters.
  • Alarmes: Set custom alarms for specific weather conditions (e.g., high wind, low temperature).

5.2 Transmissió de dades

The sensor suite wirelessly transmits data to the console. The system boasts an industry-leading transmission range of 300 meters (1000 feet) line-of-sight. Obstructions like walls and dense foliage can reduce this range.

6. Manteniment

Regular maintenance ensures the accuracy and longevity of your weather station.

  • Neteja del col·lector de pluja: Periodically check and clean the rain collector funnel to remove debris (leaves, insects) that could obstruct accurate rainfall measurements.
  • Fan-Aspirated Radiation Shield: Ensure the fan within the radiation shield is operating correctly. Clean any dust or debris from the fan blades and vents to maintain proper airflow for temperature and humidity accuracy.
  • Anemòmetre: Inspect the wind cups and wind vane for any obstructions or damage. Ensure they spin freely.
  • Panell solar: Keep the solar panel clean to ensure efficient charging of the sensor suite's internal battery.
  • Console Battery: The WeatherLink Console uses a Lithium Polymer battery. While designed for long life, monitor its charge level and replace if necessary, following the instructions in the full product manual.
