5.1. Rock Tumbling Process

The rock tumbling process involves several stages, each using a progressively finer grit to smooth and polish the rocks. Each stage typically lasts 7-10 days.

1. Prepare Rocks: Select rough rocks from the provided bag. Ensure they are clean and free of loose debris. For best results, use rocks of similar hardness and size within each batch. Fill the barrel approximately 2/3 to 3/4 full with rocks.
2. Add Water and Grit: Add the appropriate grit for the current stage (e.g., Coarse Grit for Stage 1). Add water until it just covers the rocks. Do not overfill.
3. Seal Barrel: Securely attach the barrel lid, ensuring a tight seal to prevent leaks.

5. Monitor and Clean (Each Stage):
   • Allow the tumbler to run continuously for 7-10 days per stage.

   • Empty the contents into a colander over a bucket (do not pour grit down the drain). Rinse the rocks and the inside of the barrel thoroughly under running water until all grit residue is removed.

   • Proceed to the next finer grit stage (Medium, Fine, Polish) following the same steps. Ensure no grit from the previous stage remains before starting a new stage.
6. Poliment final: After the final polishing stage, rinse the rocks and barrel thoroughly. Your gemstones are now polished and ready for crafting.

5.2. Clay Crafting and Jewelry Making

Once your rocks are polished, you can use the air-dry clay and necklace straps to create unique art pieces.
