Most Nivona machines feature a removable brewing unit. Switch the machine off, open the service door, unlock and remove the brewing unit using the handle. Rinse it thoroughly under cold running water (do not use detergent or a dishwasher) and let it dry before reinserting.
The machine will prompt you when descaling is necessary, which depends on the water hardness setting and usage. If you use a fresh water filter regularly, descaling is required less frequently. Always remove the filter before starting the descaling program.
Use the mounting aid provided (often on the end of the measuring spoon) to screw the new filter into the water tank. Then, navigate to the settings menu to indicate a filter has been inserted so the machine can rinse/prime it accurately.
